Whatever you’re using, a camera bag that offers protection for your camera and accessories is essential. It is likely to be the most important accessory you buy for your camera, offering protection against scratches and dust as well as storage.
There are several things to consider when buying the right bag for you:
There are many different size and types of bags, ranging from small to accommodate compact cameras, to large that can hold a DSLR, lenses and tablet/laptops.
Larger cases and backpacks usually offer a compartmentalised interior to separate your camera and lenses, and may also feature external compartments for a laptop, filters, memory cards and other accessories. Smaller bags may feature two internal compartments and a compact accessory pocket – browse our full range to find the right size for your needs.
When purchasing a new bag consider what and how you will be using it, backpacks are good when carrying a lot of items or if you’ll be walking a lot or all day. There are Slingshot-style bags that allow you to quickly access you camera or those that are small and will easily fit into your pocket.
Depending on the type of photography you plan to do, you will want to make sure your camera and accessories aren’t damaged, so it is worth considering whether a bag has dividers, padding, compartments, a hard shell and if it is weather proof. There are also bags especially for action camcorders.

Tripods are perfect for when you want to get more creative with your photography, and give you greater control.
When using a slow shutter speed to capture creative images such as light trails or softly flowing water, even the tiniest amount of camera shake will result in blurred photographs – using a tripod will ensure you don’t have any unwanted blurring.
If you’re using a bridge camera or digital SLR with a long zoom lens to photograph wildlife or sports, the further you zoom in, the more camera shake occurs. A tripod keeps the camera properly balanced for sharper images.
There are also tripods that are perfect for action camcorders as they are small, flexible and come with a variety of clamps so you can attach your camera to anything for a great shot.
Choose a compact, lightweight tripod if you’re going to be travelling longer distances on foot, or a longer, stronger model for specific location shoots such as portraiture and architectural interiors.

Buying the right memory card is essential for making sure you get the most out of your camera. To fully benefit from a camera’s high frames-per-second rate, choose a high performance memory card to avoid camera slowdown between shots.
When filming HD movies, the files take up a lot of memory, so choose a large-capacity memory card to ensure you can save all the footage you want.
Memory cards are spilt into three main types, SD, microSD and Compact Flash. Make sure you have enough memory cards with you when you head out to take your pictures.
A Secure Digital Card is a small flash memory card that gives you large digital storage in a compact form. They are used in small portable devices such as camcorders, cameras, tablets, MP3 players and mobile phones.
They are available in capacities from 4 GB to 128 GB, typically measuring 32 x 24 x 2.1 mm and weighing approximately 2 g. SD cards with high write speeds allow for faster, smoother photography, while high read speeds provide faster transfer onto a computer or storage device.
Used in various portable video and audio devices, microSD cards are a quarter the size of an SD card and can still be used in devices with SD card slots by using a special adapter. Despite their small size they can hold anything from 1 GB to 64 GB of data, making them very convenient.
Compact Flash Cards
These solid-state storage devices use flash memory to store files on a very small card, making data transfer easy between a wide variety of devices including digital cameras, computers, music players, printers and many others.

Filters are an easy, effective way to add a new dimension to your photographs. They help to improve factors such as colour, contrast, glare and reflections so that your pictures look purer and more accurate. You’ll be able to achieve greater control over outdoor shots and remove many of the naturally-occurring aberrations that can ruin your photographs.
UV Filters: Having a UV filter on your camera lens will protect it like a lens cap does, and keeps you ready to take a photo as soon as your pick up the camera. UV filters help to cut out ultraviolet light and reduce unwanted atmospheric haze in your images.
Polarising Filters: Polarising filters help to increase image saturation, making blue skies darker and more vibrant with greater contrast, and reducing glare and reflections in water and glass.

There isn’t anything more frustrating than your camera battery running flat when you’re out and about looking for that perfect shot. Stay prepared with our range of batteries and chargers for charging your compact camera, powering up your DSLR battery or juicing up your photography accessories.
Camera batteries and chargers
DSLRs and certain other camera types are powered by specific removable batteries which are charged using a dedicated wall charger. Simply snap the battery into the charging cradle, connect it to a wall power outlet and charge.
Many cameras come with a built-in battery which can be recharged by plugging the camera into a wall power socket, as you would a mobile phone. Don’t leave home without your camera charger so that you can power it up at the end of each day for more photographic action.
Certain simpler devices like compact cameras run on conventional AA or AAA batteries which you’ll need to replace according to how long you’re shooting for. Make sure you’re not caught out and keep a pack of disposable batteries in your camera bag.
