Your journey to the next level starts here

Taking your photography up a gear, the Canon 70-D combines totally new imaging technology with powerful, creative and wireless sharing for a responsive, all-round camera ideal. Capture those special moments as stunning photos and Full HD videos.

Incredibly responsive sensor

Its 20.2-megapixel APS-C CMOS sensor strikes a balance between high resolution and low noise, giving you photo full of rich detail, subtle tones and natural colour. Print files at large sizes for framing and your portfolio, cropping easily while maintaining quality – a great feature for isolating distant subjects and tailoring final compositions.

Featuring ground-breaking Dual Pixel CMOS AF technology, it affords you smoother, more accurate autofocus (AF) for video shooting and rapid AF for shooting in Live View mode. Easily keep moving subjects in sharp focus and create professional-looking pull-focus effects.

Advanced processing for better focusing

A 14-bit DIGIC 5+ processor ensures smooth colour gradation and fast, responsive performance. The customisable, 19-point cross-type AF System (including a high-precision f/2.8 dual cross-type AF centre point) enables unbelievable, high- resolution shots at up to 7 frames per second, with up to 65 JPEG or 16 RAW images in one burst.

Use the autofocus points individually, in small groups or as an active area, where the closest object is dictates focus accuracy. A dedicated AF area selection button next to the shutter release allows fast mode switching, without moving the camera from your eye. Use different focus-point selections and focus modes for upright and horizontal camera orientations

Its native ISO range of ISO 100-12800 lets you shoot in low light conditions with faster shutter speeds whilst maintaining high image quality.

An ideal zoom lens for SLR amateurs

Perfect for those starting out in DSLR photo and video work, the included all-purpose 18-135 mm STM zoom is great for shooting movies and stills. Enjoy smooth, quiet auto focusing for videos, while a Dynamic Image Stabilizer cuts down vibrations.

You'll be able to use shutter speeds up to four stops longer than normal without your images suffering from motion bur. Shoot hand-held in low light without using a flash or tripod.

Compact and lightweight, it's great for travel photography. Locks onto subjects swiftly and accurately with speedy autofocus, and take control at any point with a full-time manual override. Achieve superb close-ups with a closest focusing distance of 39 cm.

Expert designed offers professional control

The high-spec EOS-70D offers a professionally-engineered body designed for comfort and speedy operation. An Intelligent Viewfinder, with 98% frame coverage and 0.95x magnification, allows you to easily frame images and visualise settings using the electronic overlay.

Large and bright, it includes currently active focus points, an optional gridline overlay and an electronic level for straighter horizons. A 22 mm eye point gives a relaxed, comfortable view. Keep track of shutter speed, aperture and ISO, exposure compensation, battery status and more.

Instantly access frequently used settings, such as ISO, AF mode selection and metering with conveniently-positioned controls, quickly change settings to concentrate on capturing the moment.

The 3” Vari-angle Clear View LCD II Touch screen with a sharp 1,040k dot resolution is ideal for shooting video, or composing photos from unusual, creative angles. The capacitive screen supports multi-touch gestures like swiping and pinch-zooming –navigate menus, amend settings or flick through images smoothly.

Easy control and instant sharing with built-in WiFi

The Canon EO-S70D SLR with 18-135 mm Lens houses a built-in wireless transmitter offering several connectivity options.

Easily share images and remotely control aperture, shutter speed, and ISO from a smartphone using the EOS Remote app, or from a PC or Mac running EOS Utility software. Live View mode can be used remotely, as well as image reviewing and rating.

Explore new perspectives, or shoot from a short distance– just the thing for photographing wildlife and similar sensitive subjects.

Create Full HD Movies with an SLR

As well as beautiful still images, the E-OS-70D Digital SLR allows you to capture high-quality movies effortlessly. Shoot Full HD 1920 x 1080p video with a choice of frame rates, including 30, 25 or 24 fps, and 60 and 50 fps at 720p for detailed slow-motion. Enjoy full manual control over exposure, white balance and sound, plus a range of compression options for post-editing and sharing.

New Dual Pixel CMOS AF allows Movie Servo AF mode to track subjects as they move, or even as shots are recomposed, so they're always in focus. Choose different focus areas over 80% of the frame by simply tapping the touch-screen. Usable during recording, this ensures that movies stay sharp and clear should subjects move or compositions change.

Full compatibility with Canon STM lenses makes for smooth, quiet, autofocus when shooting Full HD video. Using stepper-motor technology for fluid focus transitions, STM lenses are ideal for DSLR videographers, eliminating distracting focusing noise.

Digital sound can be recorded using the EOS 70D's built-in stereo microphone or by connecting an external microphone via a standard 3.5 mm jack. Set the recording level manually or automatically from commands in the camera's menu.

Realise your creative potential

The Canon EOS 70D SLR gives you a host of creative modes for easy unique image capture. Difficult, high contrast situations can be overcome with in-camera HDR, merging three exposures into one with increased shadow and highlight detail.

Multiple-exposure mode lets you shoot and combine up to nine exposures into one image, or use a variety of Creative Filters to instantly change the style and look of your shots. Apply multiple Creative Filters to a single image for dozens of combinations to experiment with. Preview effects in Live View mode, or apply them afterwards while reviewing images.

Thanks to the Integrated Speedlite transmitter, it's easy to experiment with creative off-camera flash. Enjoy in-camera control of multiple Canon Speedlite EX flash units.
