Professional quality photography

With 24.1 MP at your disposal, the Nikon D5200 will provide you with pictures of stunning clarity and detail in addition to seamless usability and function. Thanks to Nikon's EXPEED 3, a fast and powerful image processing engine, the D2500 delivers high-speed operation without sacrificing on image quality or colour reproduction.

LCD display

With a vari-angle 3-inch LCD screen, the Nikon D5200 will allow you to fully explore your creative side. Flip, tilt and turn the swivel screen to help you capture unique shots, including fantastic self-portraits, from any angle. In addition, the inclusion of Live View technology will help you to frame up what was once an impossible picture!

HDR imaging

Further useful features include HDR imaging which captures more detail when shooting in high-contrast lighting conditions by taking two shots at different exposures during a single shutter release, and then combining them into one image with natural contrast.

Start making movies

In addition to superb still photography, the Nikon D5200 is equipped with Full HD 1080p video recording, with a built-in stereo microphone. Featuring Live View autofocus you will be able to keep objects in sharp focus with full-time face-priority and subject-tracking allowing you to sit back, relax and let the camera do the work.

Optical brilliance

The 18-55mm VR II lens is a great walkabout lens, capable of capturing anything from a beautiful vista to a close-up portrait. Its built-in VR image stabilisation allows an extra 3 stops of handheld shooting in low light conditions.

You can expand your creative options by making use of Nikon's legendary NIKKOR lenses.

Shooting modes

Capture exceptional images across all scenes by selecting one of the 16 scene modes. There is a mode to match every subject and scene, ensuring the most favourable camera settings come into play for the best possible result.

Continuous shooting allows you to capture those fleeting moments at a burst of five frames per second.

Optional WiFi

The Nikon D5200 is compatible with the Nikon WU-1a WiFi module. Affording amazing photographic flexibility, with the addition of the WiFi module you will be able to automatically send images directly to your Smartphone, or even use your phone to remotely capture images from your Nikon D5200.

Tiltable screen and image quality.
Shutter is ridiculously noisy - there is a setting in the menu to make it more quieter, but it is still loud.

Excellent quality of photographs. Easy to handle and not too heavy.
Excellent features for the keen photographer.
Bit concerned about the viewing screen as it swivels to the side of the camera and was always concerned I would break it. However, that said it focuses you on taking greater care of your camera

I thought the swing-out monitor screen was a gimmick until I tried some natural history shots with it. The device is SO useful for obtaining shots from awkward angles.
Having to unlock the 18-55mm lens and turn it into position before taking a shot is irritating and time-wasting.
A package deal with an additional 55-200mm lens would have been helpful.

Good feature set, and the camera is well reviewed.
I'm not sure of the usefulness of the 18-55mm kit lens. I've already invested in a 55-200mm to complement it.
Keep in mind that 55mm is the equivalent view from a 35mm lens with a full frame sensor camera, so the kit lens just gives you the wide angle capability.

Up to date features. Good, bright screen and viewfinder.
Perhaps there are too many features for a senior citizen.
