Panasonic Compact System Cameras

Panasonic Compact System cameras offer high quality photography in a compact form. They have large image sensors and offer the ability to swap lenses, making them perfect for experienced amateurs. They can also offer Full HD video recording and high speed focus. Small but mighty, the Digital Single Lens Mirrorless (DSLM) cameras offer Full-time Live View, high-speed, high-precision contrast AF and more. The Panasonic Lumix G system lacks a mirror and prism system, which makes them smaller and lighter than traditional DSLRs. Designed with digital photography in mind and the in-depth knowledge of partners such as LEICA, Lumix G lenses help you to capture stunning images.

How to get the effect of movement, with light streaking through the picture

Some photographers want to create an effect that emphasises movement, such as the light trails of passing cars. This means that some parts of the photo will be blurred, whilst other parts remain crisp and clear. This requires a long shutter speed, and a tripod or a very steady surface so you can keep the background in focus.

To create the movement effect, you will need to press the shutter button slightly earlier than the moment you are trying to capture. By pressing the shutter button before the car has entered the frame, the lights will streak right through your image, creating the movement effect seen in this picture. Using a tripod will keep the background in focus, providing a crisp image.

Recommended settings:

Focal length (35 mm camera equivalent): 32 mm

Shutter speed: 2.5 seconds

How to take pictures of pets without motion-blur

It can be difficult to take pictures of pets without motion-blurs in your photograph. Patience can be key, as animals can be unpredictable and move just as you’re about to take your picture, leading to blurred images. Once your pet has settled, you can treat it like any other portrait using the portrait modes on your camera. For a more artistic effect, you can even try blurring the background by adjusting the aperture.

Lumix G cameras from Panasonic offer a clever trick that helps to maintain focus, even when you have an unpredictable subject such as your pet. All you need to do is change the focus mode to AF Tracking, and use the touch screen to lock onto your pet. Even if your pet moves, this mode will help to keep the picture in focus.
