From the musical of the same name, this Blu-ray Disc version
of Mamma Mia! has Meryl Streep
playing Donna Sheridan, a hotel owner on the small Greek island of Kalokairi.
Her daughter Sophie (played by Amanda Seyfried) is about to be married, and
wants her father to give her away. The only trouble is - she doesn't know who
he is!
Having rifled through her mother's 20-year-old diary, Sophie
eventually deduces that her father is one of three possible candidates: Sam
Carmichael (Pierce Brosnan), Harry Bright (Colin Firth), or Bill Anderson
(Stellan Skarsgård), and proceeds to invite the three men to the wedding.
The Mamma Mia! story
is a fine excuse for the cast to belt out many Abba classics from the seventies,
and as the three potentially paternal men arrive at the wedding and lay claim
to fatherhood, chaos and rekindled feelings ensue - with the whole story set to
the music of the Swedish super-band!
Featuring a strong cast which also includes Julie Walters (as
Rosie), Dominic Cooper (as Sky), and Ashley Lilley (Ali), Mamma Mia! is a feel-good film that will have you dancing in the
