A high spec PC with stunning graphics capabilities is all very well, but to experience those graphics at their very best you’ll need a good monitor. What does that mean in today’s market? Ideally you should be looking for an HD screen, otherwise known as a 1080p monitor. In case you’re wondering, that number refers to the display’s resolution – 1080p is the vertical resolution (the ‘p’ refers to pixels). Given that most HD screens have an aspect ratio of 1.78:1, a typical 1080p screen will have a horizontal ratio of 1,920 pixels. It’s therefore reasonable to say that a 1080p monitor is effectively a 2K screen.

What are the advantages of a 1080p monitor? Simply put, more pixels means increased detail. So you can expect a high definition 1080p monitor to offer a degree of detail that you simply won’t find in non-HD displays, which are typically 720p. If you want to enjoy extra-immersive gaming or watch your favourite films and TV shows in HD, then a 1080p monitor is highly recommended.

Our collection of monitors features 1080p models from leading manufacturers like Hanwha, Iiyama and Philips and offers a great choice of displays to suit every budget. As technology has progressed in recent years, HD has become more and more affordable, meaning that our entry-level 1080p monitors are now extremely affordable. At the other end of the price spectrum, you’ll find some seriously impressive screens that deliver an incredibly immersive viewing experience, like the stunning Acer Nitro gaming monitor, which offers a 49 inch curved LCD screen that promises to plunge gamers into the heart of the action.
