Product information
The Canon 70-200mm F2.8L II IS USM Lens is an essential tele-zoom lens which is perfect for those sport, wildlife and portrait shots.

Professional standard

The Canon 70-200mm Lens is designed for professional use, giving a high performance with superlative handling. The durable design is even resistant to dust and moisture, so you can capture those incredible shots in any situation.

Capture those special moments

The robust lens boasts a constant maximum aperture of f/2.8 so you can shoot hand-held in low light and achieve a great photo. You can shoot awesome depth-of-field for a great looking composition. The lens even has a four-stop image stabiliser so you can capture those moments with shutter speeds up to four times slower without blur!

Professional features

The Canon 2751B005AA lens features elements made from fluorite, which reduce chromatic aberration. You can achieve high contrast and natural colour reproduction throughout the zoom range thanks to the five ultra-low dispersion (UD) elements, so you can capture impeccable photography from a distance!

You can take your photography skills further with the virtually circular aperture diaphragm that gives out focus regions of a softer, more uniformed feel, so you can set sharp foreground objects to stand out against smooth blurred backgrounds, worthy of the front page!

Silence is golden

The 70-200mm lens has an ultrasonic motor that drives the autofocus at fast speeds and in near silence. You can reach the point of focus with precision and accuracy every time. You can even adjust the focus without leaving AF mode with the full-time manual override!

The professional standard Canon 70-200mm F2.8L II IS USM Lens will effortlessly deliver supreme image compositions.

Upgraded from the f4 non IS version to this and am very impressed so far. I've only used it for a bit of wildlife and random shots and have not used it for its intended use yet, which is motorsport.
Images are sharp as expected and the IS helped when following fast moving birds. (and no doubt rally cars when I get the chance to go)
When using a 1.4 extender the maximum aperture is f4.
Quite a lot heavier than the f4 non IS version but I dont mind, you get used to it.
Price is quite steep so would suggest purchasing when there are offers on it.

uk GB keen interest in photography
[5D mark III user] personally cant justify the cost in terms of affordability but reading all the reviews and comments (accross the web) felt i needed it. not had chance for a proper shoot yet, but so far no doubt an excellent performance - sharp accurate fast - and all the rest of what you read. having got it now after waiting several months for a price drop i would say to people the 24-70 2.8 is a must have lens & i have some amazing shots from it and its as much about how good a photographer you are in terms of skill and expertise. i am sure so far (if your needs are not that specific) you dont need to bash your mind in persuasion to get this lens. i do feel canon are probably making a chunky profit on this which is commercially acceptable these days - but on a ethical level pretty perplexing. but dont be media/review 'cohersed' like i unfortunately was if you are not in a position to afford it comfortably (i had to dig deep and sacrifice on other fronts)

so in summary a great piece of kit - only very very expensive & dont think you cant be a great photographer without it - YOU CERTAINLY CAN - if you comfortably afford then just get it
price price price

ok its heavy but thats probably the quality of materials

make sure your bag can hold all your kit with this as well - its huge
