SCART cables let you connect your TV to other audio-visual equipment, like your Freeview set-top box, DVD player or PVR. A good quality SCART cable can make a positive difference to your sound and picture quality.
There are two basic types of SCART cable, each designed for specific uses. SCART-to-SCART cables are the multipurpose standard, with one male SCART connector at each end. There’s also the RGB SCART cable, which has a male SCART connector and RCA plugs at the other. These cables allow RGB signals to be sent separately, resulting in clearer, more vivid picture quality, and are required by some games consoles, Sky boxes and computers.
Low quality cables can lead to problems with interference, and upgrading to a good quality cable can produce excellent results. Individually screened wires within a cable prevent the kind of crosstalk interference between wires that can lead to ghosting and poor image quality. 2-layer shielding encases wires, providing far more effective protection from interference from nearby electrical currents. Gold-plated connectors mean your cables will last longer. Over time, oxidation can lead to the corrosion of copper and other metals, reducing the transmissive capabilities. Gold resists oxidation and is used as a connector material in the majority of our SCART range for a more durability. Moulded grips, like those found on the Logik SCART cable, make it easier to insert and disconnect the plug from your devices. With a fully moulded form, you can enjoy reliable connections.
