        Monitor your exteriers all year long with the Eufy eufyCam 2 Smart Security Camera System.

        Two included cameras works with a HomeBase 2 hub (included), where your video is encrypted and stored in Full HD resolution. The AI can detect humans and you can set custom activity zones on the camera. That way you only get relevant alerts.

        You can also connect the eufyCam 2 to your Amazon Homekit, Google Assistant or Amazon Alexa and see what's on the camera just by asking about it.

        You can either run the cameras off the built-in battery for up to 1 year on a single charge. Or you can have it wired and never worry about charging. Installation is easy either way.

        The camera come in a nice premium box and is priced well for what you get. Unlike other systems this system comes with both the screw and magnetic mounts. The cameras also have all the screws to mount which some smart devices don’t do you have everything you need to mount the camera. All you need is a pencil, screwdriver and drill and your good to go. The night-vision mode on these cameras is also good and you can adjust the sensitivity of the motion sensors too and use them as triggers in HomeKit.
        The battery life is advertised as 1 year but when paired with HomeKit this significantly reduces to I would estimate 6 months based on the batters going down about 87 in 3 weeks. This is also due to how much activity goes on also so this will very from user to user but this isn’t advertised at point of sale.

        When paired with HomeKit things began to go downhill. You simply can’t add this device directly to HomeKit as it will say the code doesn’t match so you have to set it up via the Eufy app which means an extra app that’s taking up space on your phone vs other devices you can add straight in.

        I also tested the WiFi and had full signal strength at both of my locations but there seems to be a glitch in the software between eufy and HomeKit because the cameras go offline periodically. I looked into this and it seems to be when the IP address refreshes the Eufy app doesn’t push it though to HomeKit and the camera stays offline from anywhere between a few minutes to all several hours. The longest I had them down for was 14 hours. So this is simply no use. I even contacted Eufy support and there techs couldn’t determine what was causing this, luckily I’m a network Engineer by trade and I manage my o find the fault on my own.

        I suggest you you call your ISP and ask for a static IP PRIOR to setting up the Eufy homehub2. The reason for this is once you have connected with a dynamic IP address the Homehub2 won’t lock to a static IP even with a full factory reset as it stays in the backup memory which would need to be flashed to reset. Thabkfully Eufy sent me a replacement Homehub and I sent the original back to them and they sent me an indoor 2k camera as compensation.

        We finally managed to resolve the issue but I don’t think the average person would manage to solve this as Eufy support couldn’t. They have said they will get there developers to investigate this issue and try to resolve and would work on it ASAP and thanked me for my help in solving the issue.

        Also then there is the alarms on the cameras. If you don’t set up activity zones then every time someone walks past your house they go off and your notified in the app. The issue with this is you then can’t capture recordings of everything going on unless they step into your activity zone so you need to try find a balance and be willing to compromise your recording range if you plan to use the alarms on it.

        The final thing I didn’t like is that there is no telephone support, it took me over a week to get things finally resolved as there customer services only operate Monday to Friday during business hours. So your waiting a day between different troubleshooting steps.

        I will say that they do have intelligent support agents and there are a pleasure to deal with and show they want to resolve the issues. It just takes time.

        So I would say, if your not looking for continued recording and don’t mind the cameras going down no and again with HomeKit if you plan to use it they way than just the Eufy app on its own and have the patience to deal with the length of time to troubleshoot then this camera system is for you as the picture is great, nightvision is awesome also and it’s got built in alarms to deter any burglars.

        If you plan to use with HomeKit I maybe suggest investing a little more money and upgrading to something like Arlo or Circle from Logitech as they provide much more options for home security.

        I purely bought this product as I’m a tech junky and I like to review HomeKit and smart products. I have actually now returned the kit because it doesn’t suit my needs. I will be positing my full review shortly and posting it on a independent site for users to see.
