Huawei is hoping to take on the might of Samsung's Galaxy Note 4 and the Really easy to use and well built, the affordable Ascend Y330 is perfect as a starter smartphone. It could actually be the best value smartphone we’ve got!
Simple and well put together, the Ascend Y330 is a phone made for practicality. The power button and volume controls are easy to get to, and the plastics are pretty good for the price.
The camera might not be the Huawei Ascend Y330’s strong point, but it’s fine for quick snapshots. At 3MP the details are OK, and you can get some nice effects with the built in modes.
Its 4” screen is as big as the one on an iPhone 5s, so it’s still a decent phone for watching the odd YouTube video. The speakers are surprisingly loud and despite this being a pretty cheap phone, it’ll still play some pretty amazing games.
There’s a useful Backup app on the Ascend Y330. It lets you back up your apps and data, which can really be useful if you’ve sensitive data on your phone.
The Ascend Y330 is an average performer when it comes to battery life. It’ll get you through a day, but don’t expect it to last a long weekend.
As an easy phone to use, the Ascend Y330 is brilliant. It has a special setting called ‘Simple UI’ that makes everything more straightforward. Once switched on, the icons become larger, the layouts simpler, and navigating around the features is noticeably easier.
