What’s new on the NES Classic Edition?

Nintendo has promised the NES Classic will be a ‘mini replica’ of the original console. It has the same iconic grey and white design, only in a more compact model that’ll slot neatly into your setup.

It plugs into your TV with an HDMI cable – so you can enjoy the games in HD.

As for controls, the console comes with a Nintendo Classic Mini: NES Controller when you buy it. For multiplayer gaming, it also supports the Classic Controller or Classic Controller Pro for the Wii.

Want to play NES games on your Wii or Wii U as well? Use the Nintendo Classic Mini: NES Controller to enjoy Virtual NES games on your console. Simply connect it to a Wii Remote Controller to start playing.

Pause gameplay and pick up exactly where you left off – every game has multiple suspend points, so you don’t have to worry about losing progress.

What games can I play?

NES classic comes with a roster of classic games pre-loaded, including Super Mario Bros. 1, 2 and 3, and other original Nintendo characters like Donkey Kong.

While Link is still going strong in 2016, go back to where it all started with The Legend of Zelda and Zelda II: The Adventure of Link.

The line-up also includes Castlevania and Ninja Gaiden – known for being punishingly hard in a way that games aren’t anymore.

Play series fan favourite Mega Man 2 or relive the 80s with iconic titles like Galaga and Final Fantasy.

Release date and price

The NES Classic Edition will launch on 11th November for $59.99 (around £45).
