Hook them up to a smart tech gift they’ll love.

24 Sep 2020

If you’re looking for a gift for a tech lover, you’ve got loads of choice. So what about going for something that’ll help them stay connected? We’ve rounded up some great ideas below, and who knows? They might even use it to get in touch with you and say thanks!

Apple Watch Series 6

This year’s new Apple Watch 6 is the most advanced yet, and it’s packed with features – a lot of them focused on health and fitness.

Like other Apple Watches, the lucky owner can use it to make and take calls without having to reach for their phone. They can also send messages quickly, by selecting a smart reply (which is a list of common phrases like ‘thanks’, ‘let me get back to you’, ‘call me later’), or writing out a message in full.

The Blood Oxygen Saturation (SpO2) is a revolutionary new sensor that uses red and infra-red light to detect when blood oxygen levels drops to dangerous levels. And there’s also a heart monitor that works with the ECG app to read the heart’s electrical signals. Simply touch the Digital Crown and an ECG waveform appears in 30 seconds. The ECG app then works out if the heart rhythm is okay.

The new S6 chipset is powerful and energy efficient, and the watch face is now much brighter in direct sunlight. If your friend is into fitness, they’re going to love the new Fitness + health platform. It delivers workouts straight onto their wrist, with professional health trainers guiding them through activities like yoga and strength training.

Apple Watch 6 comes in loads of cool colours, with aluminium blue and (PRODUCT) RED now added to the line-up.

Google Nest Mini (2nd Gen)

This amazing little smart speaker makes anyone’s life simple, and easily connects to other smart home products - so homeowners can ask it to do things dimming the lights or turn up the heating. They can also use it to make calls to any of their Google contacts.

It’s a great gift for entertainment, too. Ask it to stream music from the likes of Spotify, and every tune is loud and clear with lots of detail coming from such a compact unit. And if the person you buy it for has a Google Chromecast plugged into their TV, they can ask the Nest Mini to play their favourite show and it’ll appear on the screen in seconds.
