The future is foldable

Foldable tech came in two forms at CES 2020 – laptops and phones. Laptop giant Lenovo turned some heads with their ThinkPad X1 Fold. With its foldable 13-inch screen, the ThinkPad X1 transforms from a dual-screen laptop to a tablet with just a little origami.

Joining the likes of Motorola and Huawei, Samsung are also working on a new foldable phone. According to cnet, it could be called the Galaxy Bloom.

TVs are getting bigger, better and smarter

In an effort to make our TV time all the more enjoyable, the big TV manufacturers are going all-out. Samsung’s Q950TS was revealed at CES 2020, with 8K QLED screen sizes from 65 to 85 inches, the small screen just got much bigger!

At the other end of the scale, both Sony and LG are offering 48-inch OLED screens. Even if you’ve got less room to watch, there’s no reason you should compromise on quality.

Then there were the weird and wonderful – from LG’s rollable OLED TV to Samsung’s rotating Sero TV – perfect for big screen social media.

Google Assistant gets some new tricks

Google’s virtual assistant is continually evolving – and in Las Vegas Google unveiled its latest skills. Whether you want to leave notes on your friend’s device (i.e. “Don’t forget to feed the cat”) or create a Scheduled Action (i.e. have your smart tech make you a coffee at 7 am), Google Assistant can do a whole lot more.

Could Dell make PC gaming handheld?

Gaming has traditionally fallen into two camps: consoles and PC. And while we’ve had a long tradition of mobile consoles (from the Gameboy to the Switch), PC gaming has never really been handheld. Until now. Unveiling its new concept, the Dell Alienware Concept UFO looks a bit like a Nintendo Switch but plays PC games. Time will tell if this out-of-this-world device lands in the shops.

Wireless speakers make all the right noises

While you may have heard of the Sonos Beam, there are other players at CES 2020 shouting about their speakers. Harmon Kardon were talking about their stylish Citation range – which boast battery life and good looks. Then there’s the Vizio Elevate, whose motorised speakers can be adjusted to face any direction. So, you can find your perfect spot on and bathe yourself in sound.

Samsung Galaxy S10 Lite and Note 10 Lite
