Looking for a new laptop case? Here’s one that’s doing a world of good – the Targus Ecosmart® laptop case. It’s made from recycled material.

Targus is doing this as part of its mission to fight the crisis that our climate is in at the moment.

5.25 trillion pieces of macro and microplastic are estimated to be floating in our oceans right now.

2,538 million tonnes of waste is generated in the EU each year.

450 years is the length of time it takes for a plastic bottle to degrade in landfill.

These alarming stats are exactly why Targus is now creating products that are sustainable – and more thoughtful - than a lot of others out there. The aim is to recycle more plastic bottles than any other bag manufacturer.

What kind of recycled materials does Targus use?

Each Targus EcoSmart®laptop cases uses fabric that’s been woven from 20 recycled plastic water bottles. Targus takes recycled plastic bottles, reforms them into plastic pellets, and then convert the pellets into yarn - which is woven into material. So, that’s how it’s done – and it’s then used in everything from the bag lining to the body and trim.

What else makes these laptop cases so good?

Targus EcoSmart® laptop cases are a great fit for MacBooks and other laptops of various screen sizes. The interior lining stretches to fit the screen, so it always feels like just the right fit. And because it’s kept in place so securely, it’s protected from any scraps, scuffs or scratches.

It’s also quite a roomy case. Even with your laptop inside, you can fit other essentials like a mouse or charger into the handy front ‘stash pocket’.

Then you’ve got a few carrying options. Grab and go with the carry handles, go hands-free with the shoulder strap, or connect it to your other luggage using the trolley strap. The choice is yours.

Who else is going greener with recycled materials?

According to the National Association for PET Container Resources (NAPCOR) the number of plastic bottles being recycled has almost doubled in the last ten years. So Targus is part of a growing trend of companies making products using recycled materials.

We’re also doing our bit here at Currys. Our Go Greener range features appliances that can save water and energy. And we’re recycling big time…

How Currys can help you recycle

Currys is actually the UK’s biggest electrical recycler – collecting, re-using and recycling over 65,000 tons of tech every year. And we only sell items that can be recycled.

We’ve made it easy for our customers to recycle old tech. It’s free to recycle with us when customers bring tech in-store – or we can take away big stuff like fridges and tumble dryers from homes for a small fee.
