Think back to 2018 and you might recall what a gamechanger the Huawei P20 Pro was. Why? Well, it came packed with a pretty amazing multi-camera set up that put other phones to shame. Without knowing a thing about photography, you could snap near studio-quality pics on automatic mode. Two years later and Huawei bring out the Huawei P40 range. Do they keep up the same standard?

We took a look at Huawei’s four new P40 - P40 Lite, P40 Lite 5G, P40 5G and P40 Pro 5G - to see what we could expect.

P40 cameras

All P40 models come with an impressive line up of cameras. You’ll find four rear cameras and a surprisingly powerful front selfie cam. Star of the show is the P40 Pro 5G. It leads with a 50-megapixel main camera, a 40MP Cine Camera and a 3D Depth Sensing Camera – so you can expect pictures to stand out. Literally.

But no matter which P40 you pick, Huawei live up to their reputation for great mobile cameras. The P40 Lite boasts a big 48MP main camera and a 16MP selfie camera. Plenty of power!

And if you’re a movie making type, don’t worry about blurry home videos. All models have support for 4K 60fps video recording – so you’ve got Hollywood in your pocket.

P40 processor power

When you get your hands on your brand new phone, you might not give processors or chipsets much of a thought. But you’ll notice the impact right away. A speedy processor with a good chunk of memory gives you a seamless performance – meaning you can smoothly switch from Whatsapp to YouTube without any lag. You can also enjoy spectacular mobile gaming.

Fortunately, the P40 has been put together with power in mind. All of the P40s comes with the big performing Huawei Kirin chipsets with plenty of RAM included. So no waiting around for slow loading apps.

P40 storage

With all the games and apps you’ll be downloading, you’ll want plenty of space to store it on. And the P40s don’t disappoint. By making the most of the extra nano memory card slots, you can get up to 256 GB of storage. Your deleting days are over!

P40 battery life

According to Huawei, you can expect at least 21 hours of talk time on 3G (on the P40 5G) and that goes up as high as 33 hours on the P40 Lite. Although battery size varies depending on the model, you won’t be hanging around for your shiny new P40 to recharge. Every model comes with Huawei SuperCharge which will have you from empty to fully juiced in a flash. So, you can get back to the action.

P40 display

All of the P40s show off crystal clear high def OLED displays – so really it’s a matter of what size screen is right for you. The P40 5G starts out at a very respectable 6.1 inches, and this goes all the way up to the Pro’s big 6.58-inch display. Whatever size you pick you can expect games, pictures and content to really pop – keeping you entertained on the move or at home.

P40 dust and water resistance

We take our phones everywhere with us and accidents will happen. So, if you’re worried about water damage or even dust clogging up you’re your brilliant new P40, rest assured that these new Huaweis are IP rated to survive all kinds of thrills and spills.
