We’ve seen compact air fryers before, but nothing quite like the new Ninja Crispi. It’s portable, easy to store and has a standout design that’s also super practical.

So, plenty of exciting new developments, but can it stand shoulder to shoulder with some of the best air fryers on the market? In this review, we’ll put the Ninja Crispi portable air fryer through its paces - from design and cooking modes to real-world performance and how it stacks up against some of the best Ninja air fryers around.

First impressions and design

The Ninja Crispi stands out with its sleek glass bowls and futuristic PowerPod lid. The glass bowls, also known as Ninja TempWare containers, are where the food gets cooked. They clip onto the Powerpod air fryer when it’s time for cooking – so you can watch your food crisp up nicely. It’s a real countertop conversation starter!

Despite its modular design, it feels sturdy and well-built. Weighing in at just a few kilos, it’s light enough to move around but solid enough to stay put during use. The glass bowls have three handy uses – cooking, serving and storing. They come with snap-on plastic lids, so any of the meal you don't finish, you can put straight into the fridge. That's a really handy feature when you have midweek leftovers.

Capacity and cooking modes

The two glass bowls are 1.4L and a 3.8L, giving you flexibility whether you're cooking solo or a few more hungry mouths. The Crispi has four cooking modes - Air Fry, Roast, Recrisp and Dehydrate. Certainly not as many as other air fryers, but it should handle the bulk of your cooking.

When you’re using an air fryer, you can generally cook at a lower heat that a conventional oven. So the maximum temperature of 185°C should be able to take on most cooking, but it can’t reach the same high temperatures as other air fryers. Plus, there are no temperature controls, so you can’t be quite as precise.

Performance in real-world cooking

But how does it actually perform? Let’s fry before you buy! We tested the Crispi with some air fryer classics:

Fries came out crispy on the outside and fluffy inside with very little oil added. As with all Ninja air fryers, it’s always important to put the crisper trays is first to make sure the heat was circulating around the food.

Chicken was juicy and evenly cooked with a golden finish. Because of the glass bowl, we could keep an eye on the chicken to make sure it didn’t get too crispy, and made for some satisfying viewing!

Roast veg cooked to perfection without needing much supervision. The results were consistently impressive, especially for such a compact appliance.

One thing we couldn’t miss was the noise. Or the lack of it. When heating up leftovers with Recrisp mode, for example, the Ninja Crispi is super quiet.

Usability: controls, cleaning and storage

Ninja air fryers are never short of buttons, but the Crispi only has four. One mode button that lets you cycle between four cooking modes: Air Fry, Bake, Recrisp and Max Crisp. There are plus and minus button for time and a Start button to start and stop. It’s all fairly intuitive.

The glass bowls are a breeze to clean – just give them a rinse or pop them in the dishwasher. When not in use, the Crispi stores neatly, with the PowerPod fitting snugly inside the larger bowl. That means not surrendering more precious counter space to another appliance.

Price and availability in the UK

The Ninja Crispi launched in the UK in early 2025, and you can currently snap one up for £149.99. It’s available now at Currys, both online and in-store.

Ninja Crispi vs other Ninja air fryers

How does it compare to other Ninja air fryers? The Ninja Foodi Flexdrawer offers much larger capacity, more cooking modes and flexibility, but it’s obviously much bigger. The same is true of the Ninja Double Stack, which also offers higher cooking temperatures.

The Crispi is all about portability, coolness and those practical glass bowls. But there’s no arguing with the food it creates – it can air fry with the best of them.

Who is the Crispi for?

This air fryer is ideal for students in small flats, singles or couples cooking quick meals. Plus, meal-preppers who want a compact, efficient air fryer. Its size and simplicity make it a great fit for anyone who are short on space, but don’t want to compromise on quality. Because you can cook directly in the serving bowls, you could actually cook right at the table. How’s that for a fun dinner party trick!

Pros and cons

Pros: Portability, convenient and stylish glass containers, ease of cleaning and simple controls.

Cons are its smaller capacity compared to larger models, more limited cooking modes and the fact that it can’t get as hot as other air fryers.

Final verdict

The Ninja Crispi is a clever, compact air fryer that punches well above its weight. If you’re after a portable air fryer that looks great and cooks even better, this one’s worth a serious look.
