What do I need for my claim

You will need to have taken the following steps and have the information below to make your claim:

• Your full name, date of birth and address

• The policy number on your Certificate of Insurance”

If your phone has been lost or stolen (Mobile Insurance Lite policies do not cover theft and loss)

• The crime/loss reference number from the police (for theft claims)

• Contact your Network Provider and blacklist your mobile phone

Both of these will be verified prior to your claim being accepted and we may ask you to provide written evidence of either.

Please be aware that deliberately providing false information as part of your claim is a crime. Currys are committed to protecting our customers by identifying and investigating fraudulent claims. The details of fraudulent claims may be passed to the police and other relevant authorities, and may also be placed on a register of claims through which insurers share information.

FCA Investigation into Historic Geek Squad Mobile Phone Insurance Selling

The Financial Conduct Authority has concluded an investigation into historic Geek Squad Mobile Phone Insurance selling processes in Carphone Warehouse stores. The FCA’s investigation has focussed specifically on selling processes between December 2008 and June 2015 and has found some areas where, in that period, they consider that Carphone Warehouse did not meet expected standards.

As a result of these findings, the FCA has imposed a fine on the company.

It’s clear that in a number of cases between 2008 and June 2015 we didn’t meet the standards our customers expect and - as the FCA has acknowledged - since 2015, Carphone Warehouse has made significant improvements to its sales processes, complaints handling and monitoring. Carphone Warehouse has worked very closely with the FCA throughout their investigations.

Mobile Insurance is available on selected handsets purchased in store and online through www.carphonewarehouse.com.

You can downgrade your cover from Mobile Insurance Complete to Mobile Insurance Lite at any time. Call us on 0800 049 0221 Mon-Fri: 8am-8pm Sat: 9am-6pm Sun: 10am-5pm^ to do this. The cost of your insurance will depend on level of cover and type of mobile, visit mobile insurance to see what kind of policies we offer.

IMEI stands for International Mobile Equipment Identity. It's a unique number given to every phone and is used to identify it from other phones - just like a number plate for your device. IMEI numbers are usually 15 to 17 digits long.

You can find your IMEI number by calling #06# from your phone (your phone won't actually make a call and you won't be charged).

Additionally, on most devices, the IMEI number will be printed in small letters on a sticker underneath the battery. For more info about finding your IMEI, check your manufacturer's user manual.
