That’s because the earbuds have two microphones that deliberately pick up outside sounds to minimise them.
The processor also features a digital-to-analogue converter, with the power to upscale compressed MP3 files to make them sound much higher res. High res audio files can take up four times the storage of an MP3, so the ability to recreate that sound without burning through space is a serious perk.
Once they’re connected, they stay connected throughout. Occasional lost connections and latency can impact the best Bluetooth earphones, but Sony WF-1000XM3 get around that with a new chip and clever antenna design.
