So you’ve got a Switch and you’re enjoying your favourite games, but did you know there’s more to Nintendo’s hand-held console than just playing games? Here are a few ideas to level up your Switch…
1. You can use Bluetooth on the Nintendo Switch
One of our favourite parts of the Switch is its portability. And when you’re out and about, you don’t want a cable in the way. Which is where Bluetooth comes in. The Nintendo Switch is compatible with the same Bluetooth headphones you use for music – you can even connect airpods. But if you prefer to use a gaming headset, the Switch is compatible with anything with Bluetooth or a standard headphone jack.
How do I connect to the Switch’s Bluetooth?
To connect your Bluetooth headphones to the Nintendo Switch, you simply put your headphones into pairing mode, then go into the System Settings on your Switch, and select ‘pair device’ under ‘Bluetooth Audio’. You could even connect a Bluetooth speaker if you wanted to really immerse yourself in Hyrule.
2. You can connect your Nintendo Switch to your TV
So you’re at your friend’s house, and you want to play on the big screen without the dock. It’s possible - you’ll just have to pick up an adapter. The Nintendo Switch is designed to be used with its dock, so if you want to connect it without one, you’ll need to buy a USB-C to HDMI adapter.
Can I connect my Switch to the TV wirelessly?
Unfortunately, the Switch isn’t designed to transmit video wirelessly (only audio), so you’ll need to use either a cable or dock whenever you play in TV mode. And remember that because the Switch Lite is only designed for handheld gaming, you can’t connect it to your TV even with an adapter.
3. You can expand the memory on your Switch to download more games
Tired of agonising over which game data to delete? Not a problem – you can easily expand the space on any Switch with an SD card.
How much memory does a Nintendo Switch have?
The Switch and Switch Lite have 32GB of storage – that’s enough for about 6 full-size game downloads (although this of course depends on what you’re playing). The Switch OLED offers twice that at 64GB.
Do I need an SD card for my Nintendo Switch?
You don’t NEED to expand your storage – it entirely depends on how many Nintendo Switch games you want to play, if you’re downloading them or using game cartridges, and of course the size of the game. Not to mention how much you want to keep hold of all your saved data. We’d suggest investing in a memory card, but it’s certainly not essential, more of a good-to-have.
