PlayStation Plus is a subscription service that lets you play your favourite PlayStation games online with other people. And now Sony have expanded it to add a load of extra content – all split into three tiers. So, let’s break down what’s included in each tier, how much they all are, and what’s available to play.

What is PlayStation Plus Essential?

The first tier is called PlayStation Plus Essential. It’s essentially the same as the existing service, which lets you play online multiplayer on all your favourite PS4 and PS5 games. If you currently use PlayStation Plus and don’t want anything to change – PS Plus Essential is for you.

On top of online multiplayer, PS Plus Essential also gives you one PS5 game and two PS4 games each month, as well as exclusive discounts and cloud storage.

How much is PlayStation Plus Essential?

PlayStation Plus Essential costs £6.99 a month. But if you’d prefer, you can pay £19.99 for three months, or cover a year upfront for £49.99.

What is PlayStation Plus Extra?

PlayStation Plus Extra is the middle level and includes everything from the Essential tier (online multiplayer gaming), plus a huge PlayStation game catalogue. The games are the real key factor here, and the biggest change from the previous PS Plus subscription. It’s what used to be PS Plus, with PS Now bundled in.

You’ll be able to access around 400 PlayStation 4 and 5 games, all of which you can download and play as if you’ve bought them. There’re loads of heavy hitters on the game list, including God of War, Marvel’s Spider-Man (both the original and Miles Morales versions), Death Stranding and literally hundreds of others.

How much is PlayStation Plus Extra?

It’s £10.99 a month, £31.99 if you pay for three months, and £83.99 for a year.

What is PlayStation Plus Premium?

PS Plus Premium is the highest tier and includes everything from PS Plus Extra and Essential, as well as retro games from previous consoles. Want to relive classic PlayStation titles? This is the one for you. PlayStation Plus Premium lets you download hundreds of games from the original PlayStation 1 and PS2, as well as stream PS3 games, and even titles from PSP. Nostalgia – sorted.

There’re also time-limited game trials included, so you can play new games for up to two hours. Then, if you want to buy the game anything you’ve achieved (including trophies) will carry over.

How much is PlayStation Plus Premium?

PS Plus Premium is £13.49 a month, £39.99 for three months, or £99.99 a year.
