It used to be the case that Sony would unveil their latest range of TVs at CES, but in recent years Sony has decided to skip the show and do their own event. And this year is no different.
For 2025, we’re seeing a continuation of the 'Cinema is coming home' initiative for Sony TVs started last year. This aims to bring the cinematic experience into the home, with the emphasis being the innovative tech found in their TVs and audio products all designed for the ultimate movie night.
And speaking of movies, there were plenty of stars in their showcase. Sony announed three new Bravia TVs - the Bravia 3, Bravia 5, Bravia 8 II. This joins the existing Bravia lineup from last year in the Bravia 7, Bravia 8 and Bravia 9.
Of course, cinematic visuals aren’t complete without cinematic audio to match - so Sony have released new sound bars in the Bravia Theatre Bar range. Plus, more complete Bravia Theatre Systems. And there’s even a new projector for when the big screen just isn’t big enough - the Bravia Projector 7.
So, curtains up and let’s get on with the show…
Bravia 8 II QD-OLED
The Sony Bravia 8 II QD-OLED is built with the “picture purists” in mind! Available in 55” and 65” screen sizes, the Bravia 8 II is the direct successor to the acclaimed A95L, but with a significant leap forward in tech. And a more affordable price tag too. Unlike the OLED panel used in the Sony Bravia 8 from last year, the Bravia 8 II boasts a cutting-edge 4th generation QD-OLED panel, delivering unparalleled brightness and colour accuracy. In fact, the Bravia 8 II is the brightest Sony OLED TV to date, meaning that scenes can be brought to life with showstopping detail and vibrant colours. There’s even the stats to back that up. It’s got a 25% higher peak brightness than the A95L. And a whopping 50% higher peaker brightness compared to the Bravia 8. Impressive, right?
While the Sony A95L 77” will continue to be available for those who prefer a larger screen, the Bravia 8 II is the choice for those after a picture that really packs a punch, but in a more compact size. It’s the thinnest of Sony’s 2025 lineup, with a depth of only 3.4 cm. And that makes it a seriously good option for wall-mounting.
It also features Acoustic Surface Audio+ where the sound plays directly from the screen - so picture and sound are in perfect harmony.
Bravia 5 Mini LED
This year, Sony has taken the baton from the Full Array LED Sony X90L and handed it to the Bravia 5, which now features a state-of-the-art Mini LED panel. The Sony Bravia 5 joins the existing range of Sony Mini LED TVs, positioning itself just below the Bravia 7, which carries over from last year. Available in a range of screen sizes - 55", 65", 75", 85", and 98" - the Bravia 5 can flex to pretty much any room size. One of its standout features is the XR Backlight Master Drive, which delivers exceptional local dimming, ensuring deep blacks and brilliant highlights for immersive viewing. In fact, Sony say the Bravia 5 has up to 6 x more dimming zones compared to the X90L (depending on the screen size).
It also comes packing all kinds of movie-friendly tech, like Dolby Vision and IMAX Enhanced. The Bravia 5 is designed to bring all of your favourite content to life in a way that’ll really make you sit up and pay attention!
Bravia 3 Direct LED
Finally on the TV side of things, Sony is expanding its lineup with the introduction of the Bravia 3 Direct LED TV, a new entry-level 4K LED model that replaces the X75WL. Available in a range of sizes including 43", 50", 55", 65", 75"and 85", the Bravia 3 Direct LED TV is designed to fit a in almost any room. Despite being an entry-level model, it boasts a 60Hz panel, ensuring smooth and clear visuals. However, it doesn't feature local dimming, which might be a trade-off for its affordability. The Bravia 3 Direct LED TV is powered by the X1 4K HDR processor, which enhances picture quality and delivers vibrant colours and deep blacks. This model was initially launched in the US and Australia last year and is now making its way to the UK in 2025, bringing high-quality 4K entertainment to a bigger audience.
Continuing Bravia TV models
