When was the last time you went through your drawers and cupboards and had a good clear out? If you’ve got old tech you don’t use any more, clothes you’ll never wear again, or just random…stuff, there are lots of ways of cashing in on it.

Trade-in your old tech with us

You can trade-in certain types of tech at Currys, so take a look here to see if you’ve got something eligible for trade-in. If you have, bring it in-store and we’ll give you a gift card to spend on the new tech you really want. We’ll also wipe all your data from it for free, to protect your privacy.

Currys is the number one tech recycler in the whole UK, recycling over 65,000 tonnes of waste electronics a year. If it’s beyond repair, it’ll get taken apart so the important resources can be made into something new. If it can be fixed, it might find its way to one of hundreds of community causes across the UK – after it’s been cleaned, refurbished, and tested for safety.

Sell your old stuff online

There are lots more options for selling your old stuff. We’re not just talking about tech here. There are some great apps dedicated to selling things like unwanted clothes, toys, and almost anything you want to get rid of. Here are a few of our favourites.

Gumtree
Free to download on iOS and Android
You can sell virtually anything on Gumtree. Toys, clothes, cars, houses (yes, really), you name it. It’s got a great local search function, so your potential buyer could be just a few streets away. You can also chat to anyone interested in what you’re selling, and perhaps even give your haggling skills a go.

eBay
Free to download on iOS and Android
eBay is another great place for selling almost anything – by putting it up for auction or attaching a ‘buy now’ price to it. Make sure your item is reasonably priced, and you’re certain to get some interest in it.

Facebook Marketplace
Free to download on iOS and Android
If you’ve got Facebook, head on over to Facebook Marketplace. It’s a quick and easy way of selling your stuff. Click on Marketplace, hit the ‘sell’ button and ‘create a new listing’. You can then put your listing in local for-sale groups. And because nobody is anonymous on Facebook, it’s pretty trustworthy.

Vinted
Free to download on iOS and Android
Vinted is a great app for selling your unloved clothes, toys and homeware. It couldn’t be easier – add a picture of your item along with a price and description, and wait for someone to buy it. You’ll then get the listed price minus the ‘buyer protection fee’ (3-8% of the total price).

Depop
Free to download on iOS and Android
If you’ve got old clothes or accessories you don’t want any more, give Depop a try. Think of it as a cross between Instagram and eBay. Take some time setting up your profile and give lots of details about the fashions you’re into. Do a good job and you’ll attract lots of customers that share your style.

If you fancy investing your stash of cash in some new tech, check us out online or in-store. And if you need any advice before you buy, you can jump on a ShopLive video call and chat with one of our tech experts.
