You might not feel capable of doing anything as soon as you wake up, but that’s not true. Studies have shown that our bodies are best at absorbing nutrients early in the morning. So if you want a healthy start to the day, make some fresh fruit and veg juice for breakfast. It’ll taste great too, especially if you try our awesome recipes below…

How does juicing work?

Juicers extract liquids from raw fruit and vegetables to give you a nutritious drink packed with vitamins and minerals. All the pulp and fibre gets removed during the juicing process, leaving you with the good stuff – concentrated nutrients that are absorbed quickly into your bloodstream. That’s why fresh juices are great for detoxifying your body, and giving you an immediate burst of energy.

How do I use a juicer?

Most modern juicers can pulp fruit and veg in seconds, giving you an almost-instant drink of juice. They’re powerful machines, and they’re simple to use.

First of all, get all your fruit and veg prepped. If you’re juicing ingredients like… apples, pears, carrots, cucumbers, peppers, berries, leaves and slices of ginger… you can stick them in the juicer without peeling them. Simply cut them into chunks that can fit in the feeding tube.

If you want to juice ingredients like… pineapples, mangoes, avocadoes and oranges…make sure you remove the skin and stones before you stick them in.

To get juicing, switch your machine on before you add any ingredients. Then pop in your fruit and veg into the feeder one-by-one.

And it really is as easy as that. You should now have some delicious, freshly made juice to enjoy.

Top tip: try and use a mixture of fruit and veg in your juice. Veggies help balance out the natural sugars in fruit!

Which juicer is right for me?

You’ve got loads of juicers to choose from. Nutribullet juicers are famous for their compact and easy-to-use design, with dishwashable parts to take all the hassle out of cleaning up.

The Philips Viva Collection HR1867/21 juicer is a great option if you’re juicing for more than one. You can make up to 2 litres of juice in a single juicing session – that’s enough to last the whole day. It also has an extra large feeding tube, so you can drop whole foods straight in without having to do any chopping beforehand.
