Samsung unveils the Galaxy S26 family

Samsung has just unveiled the new Galaxy S26, Galaxy S26+ and Galaxy S26 Ultra. These epic new phones come with Galaxy AI that always understands what you're doing - and gives you exactly what you need.

Now Nudge: proactive AI support

Here’s something that’ll make Galaxy AI more useful than ever before. Now Nudge is a proactive AI assistant that actually looks at what's on your screen, and suggests helpful shortcuts before you even think to ask.

Texting someone about meeting up next week? Now Nudge will suggest adding it straight to your calendar. Taken a screenshot of something important? It'll remind you about it later. Filling out a form online? It'll help auto-fill using your on-device information. Nothing leaves your phone or gets processed in the cloud, so it all stay private.

The feature works across mobility bookings, flights, government services, medical information and loads more. Samsung says it built this feature to understand context, not just execute commands.

Text-to-Image Photo Assist

Photo Assist has been expanded with a new Text-to-Image feature that lets you edit photos using written prompts. You can now remove distractions and adjust the background in your photo directly within the gallery app. Just type something like “make the sky pink” and it instantly happens.

Privacy display: built-in side-angle protection

The Galaxy S26 Ultra comes with an all-new Privacy Display, powered by what Samsung calls Flex Magic Pixel technology. Using AI to control individual pixels, the screen can limit what’s visible from the side while staying clear for the person holding it. It’s aimed at everyday moments like checking banking apps or entering passwords in public. You can choose when it activates and assign it to specific apps. And because it’s built into the display rather than added on top, it can be switched off completely when you don’t need it.

The existing AI bits that are still brilliant

All the well-known Galaxy AI features have made it onto the S26 series:

• Google Gemini remains baked in as your personal AI assistant for writing, planning and pretty much anything else you can think of.

• Circle to Search with Google lets you find anything on screen just by circling it. If you spot something cool in a photoz, circle it with your finger and get instant answers - everything from building names to the price of those cool boots your mate’s wearing.

• Live Translate is your multilingual mate who can translate words in real-time in 13 languages. Just what you need for booking tables abroad or asking for directions.

• Note Assist turns mega documents into bite-sized summaries in seconds. No more drowning in words.

Display: sharper screens across the range

It looks like display quality is still a priority for Samsung.

The Galaxy S26 comes with an 6.3-inch FHD+ Dynamic AMOLED screen with strong brightness and crisp detail. The 6.7-inch S26+ steps up to QHD+, adding extra resolution that should make streaming, gaming and multitasking look sharper.

On the 6.9-inch Galaxy S26 Ultra, the larger QHD+ Dynamic AMOLED display is the most immersive of the three. Samsung talked about the improved colour balance and smoother brightness adjustments, which should help when you’re moving between indoor and outdoor lighting.

Camera: higher resolution and a focus on low light

Camera upgrades are another big part of the Galaxy S26 line-up.

The Galaxy S26 and S26+ both use a 50MP main sensor supported by Nightography AI. This will help you capture more detail in darker settings, and keep colours looking natural when lighting conditions aren’t ideal.

The Galaxy S26 Ultra introduces a 200MP quad camera system. The higher resolution should give you more flexibility when cropping or zooming. And the updated image processing is designed to keep things sharp without adding too much noise.

Video has also been refined this year, with Samsung focusing on steadier footage and improved clarity in lower light. Across all three models, the 12MP selfie camera has been updated to give you more balanced results indoors and in mixed lighting.

Performance upgrades under the hood

The Galaxy S26 and S26+ are powered by the Exynos S5E9965 processor, while the S26 Ultra runs on the Qualcomm SM8850 chipset. This updated hardware is built to handle AI features more efficiently, along with multitasking and gaming. Battery capacity has increased across the range, with 4,300 mAh on the S26, 4,900 mAh on the S26+, and 5,000 mAh on the Ultra. That means all-day use, depending on just how much you use your phone.
