But one of the ones we’re most excited about is Samsung’s Galaxy AI. This built-in assistance is proper next-gen tech and feels like something out of a sci-fi movie.
But what does Galaxy AI do? Turns out a whole lot! And that’s exactly what we’re here to tell you about…

Key features of Galaxy AI
Galaxy AI is there to make your life easier. And that goes for whether you’re at work, on your summer hols, or getting creative. Plus, its learning all the time. Meaning the more you use it, the better it’ll help you out. Here’s a few of the standout features you can get your hands on at the moment…
Live Translate
This one’s for the adventurers among you. And if you don’t remember much from your French GCSE, it’s a lifesaver. Live Translate will swaps words from one language to another one while you speak or text. Yes, really! So, when you’re on your travels (and struggling to order the local speciality in a restaurant) it’s got your back. Get the waiter to speak into it and you’ll understand each other perfectly.
It'll even work on calls. Pick the language you’re translating to and from and let it do all the heavy lifting. While they chat, it’ll turn their words into your chosen language, which you’ll hear played back. It will also pop up on your screen as text in real time. The classic phrasebook has definitely had its day.
Note Assist
If your notes app is anything like ours, it’s absolute chaos in there. Half-baked ideas. Creative concepts. All chucked in with no rhyme or reason whatsoever. Luckily, Note Assist has a way with words.
It’ll gather up all those scribbles and try to give them some kind of order. That might be a few new headings, or some snappy bullet point lists to make everything easier to read. It’ll be far neater either way.
There’s probably going to be the odd mistake while you’re jotting things down too. Note Assist can fix any grammar or spelling errors for you though. So, you can spend less time proofing and more time coming up with great ideas.
Transcript Assist
Transcript Assist is going to be a lifesaver in your lectures or meetings. Trust us. And you can put the pen away for a start. This thing will turn any spoken words into written text for you. You’ll barely have to lift a finger.
Fire up the Voice Recorder app and capture any audio you need. Then press ‘Transcribe’ and choose whichever language is being used in the recording (yep, it doesn’t just pick up English). Once that’s done, let it work its magic, and that speech will show up written down on your phone. You probably won’t go back to your notepad after using this.
Chat Assist
There’s almost always a better way to word that work email. Which is exactly where Chat Assist comes in. It’ll suggest a response for you based on the message that’s just landed in your inbox. And it’ll nail your reply with a tone that suits the situation perfectly. That goes for social posts and texts to your mates as well. So, when you need an epic congrats message for your friend’s engagement, you’re covered there too.
Photo Assist
Obsessed with Insta? Then let’s focus on Photo Assist for a bit. You don’t have to be an expert with angles and lighting here - it’ll handle all that for you. Reframe and remaster your images automatically to bring out all the best bits. And if there’s a pesky photobomber in the background, just get rid of them by moving them out of shot. Snappy days!
It’s really like having your own personal editor. When you’re reviewing your masterpiece in the Gallery app, Galaxy will use its AI smarts to suggest a few improvements. And you don’t have to faff around in a load of menus to add them. With a couple of quick taps, you can make your next post picture perfect.
Circle to Search with Google
Let’s say you’re scrolling your socials and come across an influencer who’s wearing a really cool jumper. You like the look of it but have no idea which brand it’s from and where you can buy it. No worries – just use Circle to Search with Google.
Draw a circle round it with your finger and your device will pull up all the info it can find on it. You’ll be able to see the price, places that sell it and maybe even a review or two. How cool is that?
How to use Galaxy AI
Want to start playing about with Samsung’s AI? Here’s what you’ll need to do:
Head to the settings menu on your Samsung gadget.
Scroll down a bit, then tap on ‘Advanced features’.
Find ‘Advanced intelligence’ and press it.
A list of every available Galaxy AI feature will pop up. Tap on the ones that you want to use.
Once you’ve picked a feature, you can customise it to suit you.
Need some help? Open the ‘Tips and user guide’ section in the same settings menu. In here, you’ll be able to find out more about what each AI feature can really do.
Tech tip: To get the most out of Galaxy AI, make sure you’re signed into your Google and Samsung accounts. That way, all of the features will work properly – and you’ll be able to use each tool to its full potential.
The future of Galaxy AI
At the moment, you can use all of Samsung’s Galaxy AI features for free. But it looks like that might not always be the case. They’ve said in a few recent press releases that this is only going to be guaranteed until the end of 2025. So, it’ll be interesting to see which bits could end up behind a paywall, and which you won’t need a subscription for. We’ll have more info on this next year.
