At Currys, our mission is to put an end to e-waste. According to a recent Uswitch study*, the UK is predicted to become the world’s largest contributor of e-waste per capita this year. So each year, we collect, re-use & recycle on average 60,000 tonnes of unwanted tech. That’s good news for the planet!

In addition to our recycling schemes, like ‘Cash for Trash’, where you get rewarded with a £5 voucher when you recycle your tech trash with us, we’re excited to introduce our brand new ‘Trash Tycoon’ game created in Fortnite – where we give players real-life gaming tech prizes.

About Trash Tycoon and how the game works

Currys is transforming 60,000 tonnes of fortnightly produced e-waste into its first-ever gamified learning experience with Trash Tycoon

A world made entirely out of the UK’s e-waste - featuring a clean, surrealist aesthetic that plays with elements of scale and nostalgia

Entering the world, players can go head-to-head, on a mission to mine and recycle as much e-waste as possible to build your base

Multiple gaming laptop bundles are up for grabs for the best bases shared on X using #CurrysTrashTycoon. T&Cs apply

How to access the game

Open the applicable app store for your mobile device and download Fortnite for free

Once downloaded and you're in the game, follow the instructions to create your display name and character

Once created, the Fortnite home screen will automatically launch. Manoeuvre the tabs to click the search icon

In the search bar type in Trash Tycoon or 9464-2017-7479

Click the Trash Tycoon tile to play the game

Enter the game play code

Compete against other players by collecting tech trash to build your base

Once downloaded and you're in the game, follow the instructions to create your display name and character
