What is Super Mario Party Jamboree's release date?

You'll get to join the party on 17 October 2024. That gives your thumbs just enough time to build up some extra muscle, as we're expecting plenty of button-mashing in those manic minigames. How about warming up with Mario Party Superstars in the meantime?

How much will Super Mario Party Jamboree cost?

Super Mario Party Jamboree will cost around £49.99. But with well over 100 minigames, multiple amazing boards to move across, 22 playable characters, and loads more in store — you’ll be getting a lot of bang for your buck.

Super Mario Party Jamboree platforms and crossplay

Like most recently-released Mario games, you'll need a Nintendo Switch to get on the guest list for Super Mario Party Jamboree. Sorry PS5 and Xbox Series X|S players!

How to play Super Mario Party Jamboree

Set on a huge sunny island resort, Super Mario Party Jamboree will surely brighten up your lounge on those dark Autumn evenings. Like previous instalments in the series, the aim of the game is to compete to collect the most stars over various boards.

In Jamboree, this includes five brand-new settings plus Mario's Rainbow Castle and Western Land — two iconic maps from the earliest Mario Party games. We love a bit of good ol' N64 nostalgia.

Take escalators to travel between floors in Rainbow Galleria, a huge mall that'll have you spending in-game coins on those precious stars. Just remember to make the most of those flash sales so you can bag one at half-price. Or try your best to stay on track in Roll 'em Raceway, a racing circuit board where you can jump a whopping 40 spaces with one lucky roll of the Turbo Dice. Wahoo!

Then you can go with the flow in Goomba Lagoon, where the unpredictable tide can completely change your path. And look out for that volcano rumbling away on the big island. It can really mix things up if it blows its top...

But let's be honest, it's the minigames at the end of each turn that really make Mario Party games awesome. And this new instalment is packing over 110 of these short challenges — so you'll never get bored competing against your family and friends.

Run through merry-go-rounds, perfect your putting in minigolf, or set the pace in action-packed speed trials. And loads of these games make use of the Switch's motion controls too, where you'll have to gently shake or tilt your Joy-Cons to win.

How many hours of gameplay will Super Mario Party Jamboree have?

The fun can roll on for as long as you like in Super Mario Party Jamboree. Like in previous titles, all the boards and minigames can be replayed over and over again.

And remember, the main Mario Party mode always lets you choose the amount of turns per game. 15 turns provide about 45 minutes of gameplay, or you can ramp them up for a marathon match with your mates.

Who are the main characters in Super Mario Party Jamboree?

Mario's the main man, of course. His name's in the title after all! But there's a big cast of characters we all know and love joining him, and they're not just making up the numbers at this party.

Luigi, Princess Peach, Bowser, Toad, Yoshi, Princess Daisy, Wario, and many more Mushroom Kingdom faves can be played in Super Mario Party Jamboree. But you won't be seeing any brotherly alliances going on. It'll be every character for themselves.

And guess who's coming back? It's Pauline — the once damsel-in-distress who Mario rescued from Donkey Kong (in the original 1981 arcade game). And she hasn't aged a day...

What Super Mario Party Jamboree features are player-customisable?

Aside from picking how many turns per game, you should be able to tweak a few more things before setting off on an adventure across one of the boards. Like if you're playing solo, you can choose which CPU characters you want to compete against and set their difficulty levels.

And although we're going by previous Mario Party games here, we reckon Bonus Stars should be a safe bet. They always have the potential to throw games into chaos and give the player in last place a fighting chance. You should also get to decide if you want help mastering those minigames before going head-to-head. Just switch on the Minigame Help option when setting up your match.

But can you tweak things during a game? Yup, kind of! Those coins you collect aren't just for purchasing stars with. You can also use them to buy stuff from the Item Shop (if you're lucky enough to land in front of one).

These can help you turn things around and gain the upper hand on other players, with an item like the Custom Dice Block letting you roll whatever number you want between 1 and 10. That way, you can guarantee landing on a special spot on the board later in the game.

What are the different Super Mario Party Jamboree game mode options?

Super Mario Party Jamboree offers several fun-filled modes:

  • Mario Party: The game's primary mode, where you'll move across one of the seven playable game boards and collect coins to buy stars with. Coins are mostly earned through minigames, which are played at the end of each turn. Whoever has the most by stars by the end will be the winner.

  • Minigame Bay: If you've got a few minutes spare and just want to play a couple of minigames, then this mode is where you'll find them. It lets you select and play any mini challenge you've unlocked.

  • Koopathlon: This is an epic 20-player online competition to see who can rack up the highest scores in a series of minigames. The higher your score in each round, the faster you’ll reach the goal.

  • Bowser Kaboom Squad: A round-based co-op mode, where eight players must work together to stop a huge Bowser rampaging around a city-themed map (sort of like Godzilla). You have to grab bombs and launch them at him through a canon before time runs out. And a minigame must also be played between rounds, where you’ll earn rewards to help you defeat Bowser.

Will Super Mario Party Jamboree have a multiplayer mode?

Super Mario Party Jamboree features a few multiplayer modes. We just mentioned Koopathlon, where you can face off against 19 other players online in a minigame medley. And then there's the explosive Bowser Kaboom Squad co-op mode too.

But do you have to be online for multiplayer? Of course not! You can still do it the traditional way, by inviting up to three friends over and playing a match on a single console. Just make sure everyone has their own set of Nintendo Switch Controllers, and you'll be ready to go.
