2025 is a great time to own an Xbox Series X or Xbox Series S! 2024 ended on a high note with Indiana Jones and the Great Circle. And since then the hits have just kept coming. Whether popular shooter Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 or fantasy epic Avowed. And both came to Xbox Game Pass day one.

And the list continues to grow thanks to announcements from events like Xbox Developer Direct 2025. For some of the hottest upcoming games, we’ve got 2025 release dates confirmed. But for others, it’s still all a bit up in the air. But that’s why we’ll keep you up-to-date on the latest Xbox games as we hear more.

Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 3 + 4

Release date: 11 July 2025

Xbox Game Pass: Yes

For gamers of a certain age, Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater was the stuff of legend! Hours were spent in front of Playstations and Xboxes worldwide trying to master every trick and tick off every achievement. And the skating took place everywhere - from cruise ships to airports. But it’s been 24 years since Tony Hawk 3 was released, and it’s looking super dated.

So we’re very excited to relive the legends in a complete remake of 3 & 4. The classic maps have had a face lift, there’s new content loads of Pro Skater wackiness and some excellent tracks too…. if the trailer is anything to go by. Ace of Spades? Let’s go!

The Wandering Village

Release date: 17 July 2025

Xbox Game Pass: Yes

If you’re a fan of city builders, The Wandering Village should feel familiar. Though there are differences with this one which means it’s not just another Sim City clone. For one thing your entire village is built on the back of a giant, wandering beast!

For another thing, the art style is cute and cartoony, but very slick. Not only will you build your settlement, but you have to form a symbiotic relationship with the giant you’re riding around on. Can you survive challenging weather, resource limits and poisonous plants? Find out this July!

Wuchang: Fallen Feathers

Release date: 24 July 2025

Xbox Game Pass: Yes

Last October introduced us to Wuchang: Fallen Feathers, a fantasy filled adventure set during China’s Ming Dynasty. You play as Wuchang, a pirate set to take on tough soulslike enemies in a bid to save the land of Shu.

Black Myth: Wukong and Sekiro fans should love this, as the trailer seems to suggest high-octane, quick reflex combat against super tough, demonic enemies rooted in folklore. So maybe not one for FarmVille players!

Grounded 2

Release date: 29 July 2025

Xbox Game Pass: Yes

If you missed the original Grounded, it’s basically a survival sim meets Honey I Shrunk The Kids. The original had you battling bugs in a backyard and was full of adventure, humour and collecting lots of things to craft lots of other things.

This time. your team has been caught in an explosion and you’ve been miniaturised in a park. That means new bugs, new biomes, new tools…and most importantly of all you get to ride ants this time! You’ll find the original on Game Pass if you want to get up to speed.

Gears of War: Reloaded

Release date: 26 August 2025

Xbox Game Pass: Yes

What do we really need to say about Gears of War? The classic Xbox shooter has been a fan favourite since its release all the way back in 2006. But 20 years later, the game is dated and has sorely needed a remaster to bring it to a younger audience.

And that formula seems to be working pretty well for Xbox given the recent success of the Oblivion remake. But it’s more than a fresh coat of paint. Gears of War: Reloaded comes packed with all the DLC and extra content you’d get in the Ultimate Edition. It’ll be another huge win for Game Pass!

Metal Gear Solid Δ: Snake Eater

Release date: 28 August 2025

Xbox Game Pass: No

With the success of Oblivion (as well as countless Playstation titles) the gaming industry is deep into remake territory. So fans of the original stealth, survival Metal Gear Solid series will be happy to see 2004’s Metal Gear Solid 3 get more than a fresh lick of paint.

The story, characters, voice acting, gameplay and music that made the original a sensation have been remade for modern consoles. The Battle damage system has been given a serious upgrade. You'll see the wear and tear on Snake's clothes, along with bruises and bullet wounds, all in real time. Players can choose a newly added, more modern control style that lets you focus entirely on the game and the thrill of survival stealth. Prefer the original feel? You can also opt for the classic controls to recreate the original experience. This snake has changed his skin!

If you know Borderlands, you'll know what to expect from Borderlands 4: non-stop, madcap action, packed with locked and loaded Vault Hunters. Blast your way through a wild cast of robots, bandits and beasts.

As before you can play the campaign solo or co-op (2-player splitscreen or up to 4-player online).

Directive 8020

In space, no one can hear you scream. Except on a claustrophic spaceship. Directive 8020 is a cinematic sci-fi horror adventure in the mold of Dead Space, Alien and loads of other games and movies.

Metal Eden

While the space suits of Metal Eden give us strong Mass Effect vibes, this sci-fi FPS is a different beast altogether. You’ll take Hyper Unit Aska to Moebius, an orbital city swarming with killer bots.
