The Consumer Electronics Show (CES) is known for unveiling some of the most innovative and futuristic appliances from the biggest and most advanced brands. CES 2024 is no different, as it’s bringing us cutting-edge technology and fantastic home tech that offers smart solutions to everyday problems. From super smart large appliances to brilliant kitchen gadgets, here are some of the announcements that we can’t wait to bring home one day!

Your appliances are getting smarter!

LG cleans up with AI smarts

The new LG WashCombo™ All-in-One uses built-in sensors that use AI to detect fabric texture, dirt levels and load size. It then automatically picks the right wash and dry motions, and the best temperatures. Smart clothes. Smarter washing machine.

Putting the AI into airfyers

The Chef AI air fryer claims to eliminate guesswork with a built-in AI that works out what you're cooking and prepares the meal for you. Just put in your food, and let it do the rest. We reckon that air fryers are pretty easy to use anyway, but if your cooking skills only go as far as making toast, it might be a good option for your kitchen.

Philips wants to make microwaves even easier

Microwaves often get the reputation for just being there to heat up ready meals and leftovers. But Panasonic is making a microwave with an AI assistant: the HomeChef 3-in-1 multi-oven. We’re told it’ll be able to customise recipes based on dietary preferences and restrictions, ingredient substitutions and serving sizes.

Samsung go all-in with AI

Samsung’s new fridges have AI Vision Inside, so it’ll scan the contents of your fridge. Not only can it suggest recipes but you’ll also get sent alerts when your food is going bad - which should help you cut down on food waste.

They’re also adding AI Laundry Combo to washer dryers - which will also save you space by packing more into one unit. This is definitely intended to make Samsung’s Ecosystem smarter and more attuned to you. And hopefully help you cut down on the chores too.

New tech keeps getting tastier…

Rainy day? Bring the BBQ indoors

If you’ve ever wanted to smoke ribs indoors, GE’s countertop smoker uses wood pellets, like an outdoor smoker, but turns the smoke into warm air. Six presets include brisket, pork ribs, wings, and salmon can fit three racks of ribs (cut in half) or a full chicken. It’s unlikely that this indoor smoker will be coming to the UK any time soon, but Ninja already do an electric BBQ and smoker if you’re into meat with extra marinade.

Feeling hungry? Hit print

3D printing has been around for a while now, but at CES 2024 we got a taste of the future with a new household tech that can actually print food! The IINK (Innovative Individualized Nutritional Kit) is a “personalised nutrition delivery system” that uses 4D printing (apparently). We’re told “it constructs a dynamic framework that encases tailored nutrition within a printed bead formed from a composite material, featuring a specific activation point” and while we have no idea what that means, we’re hoping we can get printer toast. Maybe even printer jam.

Your house is looking smarter…

Release the robot!

We’re definitely a fan of a good robot vacuum cleaner so couldn’t resist the news that Samsung’s unveiling a new line of robo vacs with extra AI. While the Bespoke Jet Bot Combo™ will be able to vacuum and then mop your floor, this isn’t a new feature for robot vacuum cleaner. But its AI object recognition definitely is, so it can skillfully avoid all kinds of objects, including chairs to toys. It can also identify stains and use its new found smarts to get to work on them. And not only can it clean your carpet, it’ll also go back and dry it too.

Your kitchen’s getting cooler…

Ice cream in 2 minutes!

ColdSnap's no-clean ice cream machine makes enjoying your favorite frozen treats easy freezy in just two minutes. Just select your fave flavour, insert the pod, and it will dispense your cold, creamy treat in no time after scanning the pod's QR code. And it's not just for ice cream - apparently ColdSnap can also create frozen lattes, boozy ice cream treats and protein shakes. Brr-illiant!

Cocktails with the touch of a button

Forget shaking mixers and measuring out spirits, Bartesian's cocktail-mixing appliance removes the guesswork from bartending. The Premier edition holds up to four types of spirits, offers 60 recipes available at the touch of a screen. Just drop a cocktail capsule in the machine, and in seconds enjoy a premium cocktail over ice.

Take the kitchen with you…

It’s a microwave. In a bag!

Willcook is the world's first portable fabric microwave bag featuring, which you can apparently control from your phone! At just 160g, Willcook will also be the lightest microwave available, with the included battery and Bluetooth function adding only another 120g. So that’s less than 300g. In just 20 minutes, the Wilcook is meant to be able to reach a temperature of 130 degrees Celsius without fire or carbon dioxide emissions. And it can also function as an ordinary bag too. Versatile!
