We’ve all been there. You’re sat on the sofa and suddenly a notification comes through from your online banking. It’s saying that you’ve spent another £12.99 on that Netflix subscription you don’t use. Great.

Luckily, it’s super quick and easy to put a stop to your subs. So, here’s how to cancel a subscription on iPhone…

How to view subscriptions on iPhone

First things first – let’s find out what you’re actually subscribed to. Unlock your iPhone and open up the Settings app. Tap on your name at the top, and then press ‘Subscriptions’ on the next screen. You’ll then see a list of all the subscriptions you’re currently signed up for. Whether that’s Apple TV or a gym membership.

Manage subscriptions on iPhone

Now that you’ve been reminded about all those subscriptions gathering dust, you’re ready to get cancelling. To cancel anything you’re subscribed to, just press on it from the list. You’ll see the option to ‘Cancel Subscription’. Go ahead and tap on that.

Your iPhone might then ask you to confirm your choice (in case you want to change your mind at the last second). Follow the prompts if you’re sure, and you’re done. Now you won’t have anymore unwanted charges draining your bank account!

But what if you want to keep the subscription, and just need to make a few changes? No problem. You can also manage your subs from the same screen. Want to switch to a cheaper plan? Tap on ‘Change Plan’ and pick the option that suits your wallet. Got to update your payment method? Hit ‘Payment Information’ and enter your new details. It’s easy peasy.

How to refund an Apple subscription

Accidentally subscribed to something a bit naff? Apple allows refunds for certain subscriptions you’ve bought, as long as you do it within a certain timeframe. So, don’t hang about!

Here’s how to request a refund:

  1. Open the email receipt you got when you made the purchase. Scroll down and press on ‘Report a Problem’.

  2. This’ll take you to the ‘Report a Problem’ page in your web browser. If it asks you to, sign in with your Apple ID.

  3. Find the subscription you want to refund and tap on ‘Report a Problem’ next to it.

  4. Follow the prompts to explain why you’re asking for a refund and submit your request.

Apple will review your request and get back to you on email with their decision. Keep in mind that a refund isn’t a guarantee and is subject to Apple’s terms and conditions.

How to reduce storage on iPhone

Now that you’ve cancelled that subscription, you’ll want to clean house and get rid of the relevant app too. Then you’ll have more space for one that you actually know you’ll use!

Go to Settings > General > iPhone Storage. Here, you’ll see a list of all your apps, sorted by size. Tap on the app to see how much space it’s hogging. If you want to delete the app (but keep the data just in case you resubscribe), press on ‘Offload App’. But if you’re set on wiping it for good, hit ‘Delete App’ instead.

Now that you know how to manage subscriptions on iPhone, need a hand with anything else Apple related? Here’s how to retrieve deleted message on iPhones if you want to get back those chats. And if you need to make even more space, we’ll show you how to delete photo albums on iPhone.
