Forget casinos and residencies. CES 2024 is stealing the limelight in Las Vegas right now, where the world's leading tech giants are showcasing all their latest products for the new year. And trust us, there are plenty of state-of-the-art TVs to talk about.
That’s why we’ve rounded our top telly picks from CES 2024. From the wonderful to the plain weird!
Samsung’s new see-through Micro-LED display, glare-free tellys, and more
Samsung’s really hit the ground running in 2024. They’ve unveiled loads of new TV tech at CES 2024 and there’s a lot of cool stuff to cover…
Jaw-dropping transparent Micro-LED screen
Samsung are always pushing the boundaries, and they've debuted a transparent Micro-LED display that's become a big talking point. Now, transparent OLED screens aren't exactly new — but Samsung claim that their Micro-LED tech offers a brighter and clearer picture. Oh, and it's even more transparent too (literally like a piece of glass).
They haven't packaged it into a TV that you can buy just yet. But this tech will surely make its way into our living rooms in the next few years. And the enthusiasts on the show floor are really raving about it.
Neo QLED 8K and 4K TVs with Ai features
There's a lot more to shout about when it comes to Samsung’s 2024 TV range. Their new Neo QLED 8K telly is loaded with the cutting-edge NQ8 Ai Gen3 — dubbed "the most innovative Samsung TV processor yet". It’s apparently twice as fast as the previous version with eight times the neural network, which means an even crisper display. Wowzers.
But Ai is the name of the game right now. Which is why Samsung's new processor is also powering Ai-enhanced 8K upscaling to sharpen low-res content. It’s like its remastering the picture for you! And they'll be using Ai to improve motion (great for sports), depth, and the dialogue in your favourite flicks too.
Premiere 8K wireless projector
Prefer projectors over TVs? Well, you'll love this. Samsung's made the world's first 8K-resolution wireless projector, designed to keep your living room tidy and free of cables.
It's equipped with lots of smart features too, including "picture-off premium home audio, cloud gaming, always-on voice with far-field mic, and four multi-view screen splits." Sounds like the entertainment hub for your lounge is sorted then.
Industry's first OLED 'Glare Free' tech
Samsung’s flagship S95D series has also had a refresh for 2024. Besides a brighter display and Ai-enhanced colour accuracy, these tellys will be getting innovative new 'Glare Free' tech too. So, if the sun shines into your lounge and ruins your view of the footy or the latest blockbuster, this tech aims to reduce reflections "to deliver the beautiful detail of OLED without the glare." Nice.
LG’s award-winning transparent TV and new M4 series
LG won't be letting Samsung steal the show. They’ve clearly been working hard on new products for 2024 too…
World’s first see-through and wireless OLED TV
LG’s big presentation was all about a new 77-inch OLED display that's not only transparent, but also wireless. Called the Signature OLED T, LG's game-changing 4K telly has won five CES 2024 Innovation Awards — including a ‘Best of Innovation’ honour.
Designed to liberate viewers from "a dominant black screen that competes with the décor in their home", this TV lets you get creative with placement and can act as a centrepiece for your living space. And instead of businesses bagging this transparent tech before anyone else, you'll be able to get one of these in your lounge later this year.
With the LG Signature OLED T, you’ll get to display art or photos on the transparent screen for a floating 3D effect. Or just click a button to raise a contrast screen for a conventional viewing experience in "picture perfect OLED."
M4 series wireless OLED TVs
The Signature OLED T is at the heart of LG's booth at CES 2024. So, their Signature OLED M4 series may have slipped under the radar. But this new flagship line of wireless OLED televisions looks to be a big improvement on the previous M3 series.
They boast brighter displays, as well as the same panel tech used in the acclaimed LG OLED G3. M4 series TVs also come with a new Alpha 11 Ai processor that “provides a 70 percent improvement in graphic performance and a 30 percent faster processing speed” compared to the M3. Quite the upgrade then. Plus, LG are offering a smaller 65-inch option for this revamped line-up.
But of course, the big appeal with these wireless OLED TVs is that they're, well... wireless! This means no more messy cables. Just plug your Blu-Ray player or games console into a separate box that'll wirelessly transmit their pictures to the TV.
TCL's 115-inch, Mini-LED monster
It sounds silly using "mini" and "monster" in the same sentence, doesn't it? But that's exactly what TCL's new QM891G 4K TV is. It's a 115-inch behemoth backlit with Mini-LEDs, with a peak brightness of 5,000 nits and over 20,000 local dimming zones. Wow. It's easily the biggest mass-market TV you'll see at CES this year. Go big or go home — as they say.
The TCL QM891G is pretty bold. But if you're looking to turn one of your spare rooms into a home movie theatre, this could be right at the top of your shopping list. Especially with the 6.2.2-channel Dolby Atmos speaker system pumping out dramatic, cinema-like sound.
Hisense’s kitted-out, 110-inch Mini-LED TV
The TCL QM891G is a beast, and so is Hisense's new 110UX TV from the ULED X series. With a screen measuring 110 inches, it's just a tad smaller than the TCL. But with a peak brightness of 10,000 nits — that makes it twice as bright. You might have to wear some sunglasses when watching this thing! It also boasts a staggering 40,000 local dimming zones for incredible contrast and depth.
Hisense have even packed in Dolby's ground-breaking Atmos FlexConnect wireless audio tech too, which will let you hook the TV up wirelessly to compatible speakers and place them anywhere you like. It'll then optimise the sound for your seating position, TV, and speaker setup.
Those are some pretty unbelievable specs, so they'll come at a premium we'd expect. If you want to save a few quid though, you could go for the slightly smaller Hisense 98UX. It doesn't have all the bells and whistles of its bigger brother, but still packs a punch.
Panasonic's new flagship OLED TVs with built-in Amazon Fire TV
While Samsung and LG have made most of the TV headlines at CES 2024, Panasonic's new Z95A and Z93A OLED tellys deserve a shout-out too. Coming in at 77" (Z93A) and 65/55" (Z95A), these TVs should fit right into any home.
And with Amazon Fire TV built in, you'll get to streamline the way you watch content — with a personalised home screen that brings together your favourite streaming services, apps, and channels. With tailored recommendations to boot!
Panasonic's new TVs also feature Dolby Vision IQTM Precision, which "delivers superior picture enhancements and brightness." While immersive 3D surround sound, courtesy of 360 Soundscape Pro, should provide "the ultimate sensory entertainment experience." And Panasonic haven't forgot about the gamers either. Their Z95A and Z93A TVs serve up a rapid 144Hz refresh rate for fast and responsive gameplay free of motion blur.
The best of the rest
Here are a couple more TV highlights from CES 2024:
Roku Pro series Mini-LED TVs: Roku only started making smart TVs last year, and for 2024 they've upped their game with the Pro series. These new 55", 65" and 75" tellys sport stunning 4K QLED displays with Mini-LED local dimming, but their beauty lies in their simplicity — with an easy-to-use search and navigation system that lets you find your favourite content in seconds. They're going to be pretty affordable too.
TCL QM8 Mini-LED TVs: TCL's massive 115-inch screen telly is big news (quite literally), but TCL have overhauled the rest of their line-up too. For 2024, they're proudly "redefining the term flagship TV" with their QM8 — which ranges from a very sensible 65" to 98". It packs QD Mini-LED Ultra tech for up to 5,000 zones, which is more than two times the number of zones of the previous model. Expect "truly inky blacks", according to TCL. You'll also get 5,000 nits peak brightness and QLED Ultra, yielding incredibly dynamic images.
