The app groups events on a simple timeline, and familiar face and package detection are available with a subscription in supported regions. With Google Assistant built in across the ecosystem, you can view a feed on compatible smart displays and use voice to bring up a camera when your hands are full.

Small positioning tip: aim outdoor cameras to cover approach routes rather than the pavement, and use activity zones to quieten alerts from passing traffic. Indoors, avoid pointing directly at windows to reduce reflections at night.

For video history, live view and event clips are available out of the box on many models, and Nest Aware subscriptions add longer history and enhanced alerts. Continuous video history is offered on select wired models with Nest Aware Plus. All cameras need a solid Wi-Fi connection for reliable notifications and viewing.

Do Google Nest cameras require a subscription?
