The Assassin’s Creed franchise has always moved around in time. From the splendour of Ancient Greece to industrial London, Assassins Creed fans have always been treated to exploring incredible cityscapes throughout history. And climbing some pretty famous monuments too.

And the latest in the franchise takes us back to 9th century Baghdad, complete with all the stealth, parkour and sneaky assassin magic of the original games. Here’s everything you need to know about Ubisoft’s latest game…

What is Assassin’s Creed Mirage release date?

Assassin’s Creed Mirage will be released on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, PS4, Xbox One and PC on 5th October, 2023. The original announcement date was the 12th October – but the game has gone gold so this has been moved forward by a whole week. Great news for AC fans!

How much will Assassin’s Creed Mirage cost?

The release price will be £44.99 for the standard game, then there’s more content with the Deluxe Edition at £49.99 and a Collector’s Edition at £129.99.

Can I preorder Assassin’s Creed Mirage?

Yes, you can pre-order Assassin’s Creed Mirage now for your favourite platform. You can go for the digital or physical game and have it delivered ready for your new adventure on 5th October.

Assassin’s Creed Mirage platforms and crossplay

So, we know that AC Mirage will be released on multiple platforms - PS5, Xbox Series X|S, PS4, Xbox One and PC. But its crossplay feature is really exciting.

Basically, that means you can play on a PS4, save your game on the Cloud and then pick up where you left off on a PS5. The same goes for Xbox too! But that doesn’t mean crossing from Xbox to Playstation. Because Assassin’s Creed Mirage is single player only, you won’t be able to play against your friends on other platforms.

How to play the Assassin’s Creed Mirage game?

Assassin’s Creed Mirage takes the franchise back to its roots – with a game focused far more on stealth and sharpening the skills of an assassin. You take on the role of Basim, a street thief in 9th century Baghdad who you’ll take on a journey to become a master assassin. You’ll learn new skills, beat missions and navigate the streets and politics of Golden Age Baghdad.

How do you want Basim to develop? That’s up to you. Learn the skills you want to master as you climb towering buildings, parkour across rooftops, sneak through alleys and become the master of stealthy takedowns!

How many hours of gameplay will Assassin’s Creed Mirage have?

The last few Assassin’s Creed games have had potentially hundreds of hours of gameplay. These action RPG open-world adventures had the main quest and then countless side quests, activities and extra achievements. In the latest game, Assassin’s Creed Mirage offers a way more focused game, set in 9th century Baghdad – the perfect playground for the aspiring assassin!

The main story will take between 20 to 23 hours to complete – with extra hours needed for 100% completion. For fans of the early Assassin’s Creed games, it’s a welcome return to the classic format.

What are the Assassin’s Creed Mirage main factions and characters?

We’ve already met Basim, who’s joined by childhood friend and thief Nehal. And then there’s master assassin Roshan – who teaches Basim all her lethal skills. While we don’t yet know much about the villains (though it’s likely that the evil Templars will be in the mix) we’ve learned about some of Basim’s allies:

Banu Musa – the golden age of Baghdad was a place of creativity, science and industry and the Banu Musa are a guild of inventors. They help Basim develop tools such as smoke bombs, the Hidden Blade, blow darts, mines, throwing knives and noise makers.

The Hidden Ones – these are the society of assassins that Basim hopes to join. Their stronghold is the fortress of Alamut.

The Zanj Rebellion – led by the clever Ali, the Zanj Rebellion fights for freedom against the oppressions of the Caliphate.

What Assassin’s Creed Mirage features are player-customisable?

Recent AC titles have leaned more towards RPG mechanics, i.e. weapons and armours give you more points in certain categories, such as strength, attack, charisma etc.

But Assassin’s Creed Mirage strips that right back to cosmetic changes. So, while you can dye Basim’s outfit, switch between hoods and turbans and choose the appearance of your weaponry, it’s much more about the look you want to give your assassin. Basim also has a horse, so expect some pretty natty wardrobe changes for your steed too.

What are the different Assassin’s Creed Mirage game mode options?

While we know there’s going to be a main story campaign, we’d expect there to be difficulty settings so you can pick how challenging you want your playthrough to be. Uniquely for Assassin’s Creed there’s also a mode that allows you to take a virtual tour through the city of Baghdad and learn about its history. So much research goes into an AC title, so it would be a shame not to showcase all the hard work in a tour for history fans.

Will Assassin’s Creed Mirage have a multiplayer mode?

The one thing we don’t expect to see in AC Mirage is multiplayer mode. Assassins Creed has focused mainly on single player campaigns without online multiplayer or co-op play. While there was a certain amount of multiplayer in Valhalla, the consensus is that AC Mirage will stick to single player. At least for now.
