We’ve got some wizard news for Nintendo Switch owners. Hogwarts Legacy is about to land! So, if you fancy grabbing a wand and exploring a world of magic and mystery, here’s all there is to know…

Hogwarts Legacy platforms

Hogwarts Legacy has been a hit on the PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X and PC since early 2023. Nintendo Switch owners have had to be a little more patient, but the wait is almost over…

What is the Hogwarts Legacy release date?

Hogwarts Legacy will be released on Nintendo Switch on November 14, 2023. Like we said above, the other main platforms (PlayStation, Xbox and PC) have had it since the start of 2023.

Can you pre-order Hogwarts Legacy for Nintendo Switch?

Yes, Hogwarts Legacy is available for pre-order. Pre-order a game with Currys and get it straight to your door in time for release day. Or, if you want to go digital, you can always top up your Nintendo account with an eShop gift card instead and grab the game from the Nintendo Store.

How much will Hogwarts Legacy on Nintendo Switch cost?

Put away your silver sickles and golden galleons. You’ll be able to buy a copy of Hogwarts Legacy on Nintendo Switch for £49.99 in muggle money.

How to play the Hogwarts Legacy game

Hogwarts Legacy is a single player action role-playing game situated in the Harry Potter universe.

You play the part of a student, and you’ll roam an open world (Hogwarts in the 1800s, to be exact) full of magic, mystery and adventure to create potions for your character, learn how to cast spells, discover magical creatures, and become the type of wizard that goes down in Hogwarts history - hopefully with a better reputation than he who must not be named.

You’ll spend a lot of time gaining knowledge through the Hogwarts Field Guide, and finding the pages that are hidden far and wide. There are lots of fun side challenges to complete, and they’re always worth a little something. Plus, you’ll meet fellow students and friendly professors to help you in your quest.

But it’s not all fun and games. You’ll also encounter enemies that will need defeated with spells and special combat moves. Oh, and you’ll need to attend actual classes as part of the story. But don’t worry, they’re much more exciting than muggle school lessons.

How many hours of gameplay are in Hogwarts Legacy?

If you’re the type of player that focuses on the main objective and just wants to complete the game as quickly as possible, we reckon Hogwarts Legacy will take you between 30-35 hours to complete (well done if you do it quicker than that).

If you’re on a mission to complete the game 100%, be prepared to spend a lot more time on it. Anything under 70 hours will seriously impress us.

Who are the main Hogwarts Legacy characters?

Here’s a who’s who of the main characters you’ll meet in the game:

STUDENTS

Amit Thakkar
A Ravenclaw student who has the dream of becoming a famous wizarding historian.

Everett Clopton

A Ravenclaw student you'll meet in broom flight class. Everett’s a big naughty. A prankster and perhaps even a bit of a bully.

Natsai Onai
An intelligent, quick-witted Gryffindor student who doesn’t tolerate injustice.

Poppy Sweeting
A Hufflepuff student with lots of expertise and love for the Hogwarts Legacy creatures.

Sebastian Sallow
A Slytherin student who you’ll have lots of dealings with. Tread carefully with this one.

TEACHERS

Eleazar Fig
A wizard who teaches magic theory at Hogwarts, and more importantly, your main ally throughout the game. Treat him well.

Phineas Nigellus Black
The Headmaster at Hogwarts. Not a popular character, disliked by teachers and students alike. Will Hogwarts ever have a loveable headmaster?

Matilda Weasley
Weasley, huh? Where have we heard that name before? Anyway, back in 1800 Matilda Weasley is a witch who teaches transfiguration at Hogwarts. She’s an important character, as you won’t get to the Room of Requirement without her!

Aesop Sharp
Potions Master at Hogwarts. Doesn’t suffer fools gladly and is a tough taskmaster. But if you buckle down in class and show some interest, he’s not such a bad sort.

Dinah Hecat
A tough but likeable teacher of defence against the dark arts. Her classes are demanding but oh-so useful.

Mudiwa Onai
The mother of Natsai Onai, Professor Onai teaches divination.

VILLIANS

Ranrok

The main villain. Ranrok is a goblin who led rebellion to try and claim the Ancient Magic protected by the Keepers. The bad news is that he's formed an alliance with another villain. None other than…

Victor Rookwood

He’s the leader of a group of Dark Wizards, and an annoyingly close ally of Ranrok.

What are the game mode options in Hogwarts Legacy?

Hogwarts Legacy is purely a single player RPG, so it doesn’t have any multiplayer or co-op mode. It’s just you and your wand.

Which features in Hogwarts Legacy are customisable?

You can choose your character's appearance, gender, voice, and body type during the initial creation stage. You also get to choose which one of the four Hogwarts houses you’ll be part of. Even Slytherin, if you’re… that kind of wizard. And as you progress through the game, you’ll also master your own style of combat and spell-casting skills.
