If you’ve been in-store and seen our Cash for Trash posters, it’ll be no surprise to you that we recycle old tech. A lot of it. In fact, we recycle 60,000 tons of old tech a year – making us one of the biggest tech recyclers in the UK. And people are really starting to take notice - from PM Rishi Sunak to the UK media.

In fact, UK newspaper The Mirror recently visited our 500,000 sq. ft repair lab in Newark, where we repair, refurbish or recycle nearly 3 million products a year. If a product can’t be repaired, its components are kept and then used to repair other tech. And if something is missing, there’s even a 3D printer available to create new parts too.

If tech can be fixed, it might find its way to one of hundreds of community causes across the UK – after it’s been cleaned, refurbished, and tested for safety.

The Mirror described our colleagues (along with similar schemes) as “heroes vying to end throwaway culture by restoring broken tech otherwise binned.”

And it’s vital that we all take action. It’s estimated that the average UK household bins out £800 worth of tech every year. Almost half of that ends up in landfill.

David Rosenberg, service operations director, sums up our passion for reusing and recycling:

“The idea that tech is disposable has gone. We believe in the mindset of nothing is going to waste.”

It pays to recycle

Our Cash for Trash recycling scheme is helping people do something good with their unwanted tech. And it’s easy. If you bring any old tech in-store for recycling, you’ll get at least a £5 voucher off your next eligible purchase.

Here’s how…

1. Bring your old tech to your nearest store and we’ll recycle it for free. We take everything from conked out kettles to kids’ toy tech. It doesn’t matter where you bought it either.

2. We’ll hand over a voucher for at least £5 to use with any eligible in-store or online purchase over £25. If the trade-in value of your tech is more than £5, we’ll give you what it’s worth. Check our trade-in page to check the value of your old tech.

3. Use our store finder to find your nearest store and transform your old trash into cash!
