You are the Arisen. Only you’re not just any old adventurer. Your heart’s been stolen by a dragon – and you need to get it back by any means necessary. But that’s just a standard Monday in the world of Vermund and Battahl.
To equip you for your deadly mission, we’ve put together a mini guide containing everything you need to know. From the release date and monster hunting gameplay to the customisation options and more. Right, let’s slay some dragons…
Dragon’s Dogma 2 release date
You haven’t got long to prepare for your quest - Dragon’s Dogma 2 lands on March 22, 2024. So, sharpen your broadsword and brew some potions. Because it’ll be here before you know it.
How much will Dragon’s Dogma 2 cost?
Well, you don’t need to have loads of gold clinking about in your pouch. The game will cost you £69.99 on console, and £55 on PC through Steam.
Can I pre-order Dragon’s Dogma 2?
You can pre-order your copy right now. And if you do, you’ll get some extra bonus weapons chucked in for free. It’s a dangerous world out there – so they’ll definitely come in handy.
Plus, if you do pre-order, you’ll get your hands on the game on release day. That way, you won’t have to wait around to start your adventure.
Dragon’s Dogma 2 platforms
Dragon’s Dogma 2 launches on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/Series S and PC. Sorry Switch players – this one’s going to be a gaming fantasy unless you decide to swap consoles!
How to play Dragon’s Dogma 2
Dragon’s Dogma 2 is a fast-paced, third-person action RPG. You’ll face off against fearsome monsters in epic scraps using bows, swords, spears, and spells to take them out. From minotaurs and griffins to goblin hordes, you’ll have to use clever tactics to come out on top. With some beasties, you’ll literally have to clamber onto them to bring them down. Hold on for your life!
You won’t be completely alone in battle though. You’ll need to recruit some other warriors to join you on the road. Otherwise, you probably won’t survive. So, this is where the Pawns come in. You’ll travel with three of these AI companions at all times. They’ll bring their own abilities and gear to the party, so it’s worth mixing up your group with different adventurers to tackle any kind of threat.
The game is fully open world too. And boy is it a big one. The devs say that it’s about four times bigger than the map from the first game – and that one was already pretty huge. So, it looks like there’s going to be tons to see and do.
How many hours of gameplay will Dragon’s Dogma 2 have?
We haven’t got an exact number just yet. But if the first game in the series is anything to go by, you’re easily looking at about 40 hours to complete the main quest. And if you want to find every little secret and do all the side missions, your adventure could last up to nearly 100 hours, easily. That’s a whole lot of gameplay.
Who are the main characters?
On your journey, you’ll meet a bunch of potential friends and plenty of deadly foes. They’re not just designed to react in a pre-programmed way though. Your relationships will change depending on your actions in the game. Here are a few of the major players in Vermund and Battahl…
The dragon – This scaly red monstrosity turns people and towns into ash. But surprisingly, some people still worship it as a god. Nobody but you can stand against it.
Brant – Captain of the place guard, Brant is an experienced leader. He’ll fight for what’s right – and if necessary, completely disagree with the Queen Regent he’s sworn to protect.
Sigurd – You and Sigurd should have a lot in common. He’s a famous dragon hunter and won’t rest until they’ve been exterminated. Maybe you can learn a thing or two from him…
Disa – Her husband – the king - has died. As the new Queen Regent, Disa’s position of power is only temporary though. So, she’ll scheme and plot to install her son Sven as the next ruler. Watch your back.
Will Dragon’s Dogma 2 have a multiplayer mode?
This is a single player only title. And while it would be pretty cool to party up with your mates, you’re the hero here. So, there won’t be anyone else to steal your glory. Or help you out when you’re about to become a cyclops’ dinner!
What Dragon’s Dogma 2 features are player customisable?
It wouldn’t be much of a role-playing game if you couldn’t customise anything, would it?
At the start of the game, you’ll make your own custom Arisen from scratch. You’ve got your standard fantasy races here like humans and elves. But, if you want to go a bit wild, you could become a beastren instead. I mean, who wouldn’t want their mane character to be a huge two-legged lion?
This is the tough bit though. Now you’ve got to choose your class…
Archer – Prefer to pick off your targets from a distance? Archers are long range specialists who pepper their enemies with a volley of arrows. And if you need some extra firepower, there’s always burning ones…
Fighter – As a fighter, you’ll be getting up close and personal with all manner of monsters. Wielding a sword and shield, you’re the first line of defence in your party. So, make sure your blocking skills are on point.
Thief – The thief uses two daggers to unleash rapid strikes, then dashes out of danger before you even know they’re there. And if you like sneaking about, they can steal items from enemies and NPCs too.
Mage – These guys make Gandalf look like a fraud. Their staff fires out elemental magic to vaporise their foes, while healing spells keep the rest of the rest of the party fighting fit. Plus, they’ll buff the weapons of other party members to help dish out some extra damage.
Warrior – Masters of two-handed weapons – like war hammers and battle-axes – the warrior can dish out (and take) a load of punishment. If you hear their war cry, you should probably run…
Sorcerer – These masters of magic are all about going on the attack. And while their spells are the most devastating in the game, they take a lot longer to cast. So, you’ll have to pick your moment to strike!
And if you want to try a class that’s completely unique, you’ve always got the Trickster, Wayfarer, Magick Archer and Mystic Spearhand too. But we don’t want to spoil their flashy skills, so we’ll let you find out about those for yourself…
