After six years away, the Forza Motorsport reboot is revved up and raring to race! With more cars, tracks and collisions than a series of Top Gear, the authentic moto sim is just around the (hairpin) corner. If you’re a massive petrol head, you won’t want to miss it.
To get you ready to hit the racetrack, we’ve put together a mini guide of everything you need to know. From the release date and pre-order info to the cars you’ll be driving, the high-octane multiplayer competitions and more. We’ll see you at the starting line.
What is Forza Motorsport’s release date?
Start your engines! Forza Motorsport whizzes its way onto Xbox Series consoles, Windows gaming PCs and gaming laptops on 10 October 2023. So, put a note in your calendar because race day is nearly here.
How much will Forza Motorsport cost?
That all comes down to which version of the game you go for. The Standard Edition is £69.99 on Xbox and £59.99 on PC. Then you’ve got a couple of other more expensive editions that come with a truckload of bonus goodies.
If you go for the Deluxe Edition, you’ll get access to the Car Pass. And that’ll give you 30 new cars delivered to your garage (one a week), for you to race and build. While the Premium Edition really kicks things into high gear with all this:
Car Pass - Just like the Deluxe Edition above.
Race Day Car Pack – Featuring eight brand-new high-performance race cars.
Welcome Pack – Get five instant car unlocks, plus $500,000 extra credits to really jump start your racing career.
VIP Membership – Drive five VIP exclusive Forza Edition cars, get a permanent x2 boost to your credits and look the part with the VIP Player Card, VIP Crown Flair and VIP-only events.
And there’s some more great news - the game is dropping on Xbox GamePass on day one too. Lovely stuff.

Forza Motorsport platforms and crossplay
Forza Motorsport is an Xbox and PC exclusive. So, you’ll only be able to play on Xbox Series X, Series S or your computer or laptop. Sorry PlayStation players.
How to play Forza Motorsport
In Forza Motorsport, you’ll grab the keys and take on AI or online drivers in a series of different races. But this isn’t an arcade racer like Mario Kart. The developers were driven to make the game as realistic as possible – so you’ll feel like you’re actually sat slap bang in the driving seat.
Photorealistic visuals, advanced physics, and improved AI competitors make every race way more immersive. There’s even a clever new damage and dirt system. Which means you’ll see every crack in the bodywork after a high-speed collision, and the mud caking your tyres as you battle to the finish line. And because of all that every single lap looks and feels different too.
How many hours of gameplay will Forza Motorsport have?
We don’t have an exact number just now, but Forza has always been known for its replayability. With so many tracks and cars to try out, you’ll be able to race for way longer than the legendary 24 hour Le Mans endurance race. But remember to pull over for a pit stop every now and then!
What kind of cars and tracks are there?
There’s 500+ authentic cars that you can take for a spin here – from McLaren and Ferrari powerhouses to the slightly more low-key BMW or Audi your dad might drive. They’re all super detailed too, with every part inside and out looking exactly like the real-life machines they’re based on. Everything has been lovingly modelled – right down to the tiniest dials and buttons. And that goes for super cars, your average Joe hatchback, and all the other car classes in between.
You’ll be speeding around 20 iconic environments, taking on other drivers as well as the elements. Each track has its own time of day cycle, with unique weather and racing conditions that can really throw a spanner in the works. Dazzling sunshine. Blinding snow. Pounding rain. It’s all here. Just try not to spin out on that tight corner when it’s chucking it down!
Here are a few of the confirmed tracks we know about so far:
Maple Valley Raceway – A proper fan favourite, lined with leafy red and green trees.
Kyalami – An old F1 circuit in South Africa. So, you’ll be following in the footsteps – or tyre tracks – of legends.
Circuit Hakone – A high-speed Japanese track, where you’ll be going head-to-head in the shadow of Mount Fuji.
WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca - Bathed in California sunshine, this historic American track has been hosting races since 1957.
Circuit de Spa Francorchamps – Belgium’s world-class Grand Prix track, the course has held a Grand Prix pretty much every year since the 80s. That’s motorsport royalty for you.
What are the different Forza Motorsport game mode options?
The big back of the box mode in this year’s Forza is the Builders Cup Career. In this brand-new single player experience, you’ll have to outbuild your fellow racers to come out on top.
You’ll face off against Forza’s most advanced AI opponents yet in a series of thrilling races and time trials. And with every race, you’ll level up and earn XP and Car Points that you’ll use to upgrade your favourite cars. Installing new parts is going to be super important if you want to stay competitive.
But you’re going to have to start with something basic. Your first vehicle won’t have any upgrades – it’ll be completely stock - just like you’ve driven it straight off the production line. Improving it over time will help you to master its unique characteristics and build it into the ultimate racing machine. Make sure you spend those upgrade points wisely.
You won’t ever be stuck for new content either. The plan is to add new tracks, cars, and championships into the Builders Cup to keep it fresh whenever you sit down to play.
Will Forza Motorsport have a multiplayer mode?
Yep - you’ll be able to hop into different online multiplayer modes and fight for that top spot on the podium. Whether that’s going up against your mates or other drivers from around the world.
And there are loads of ways to play. With Featured Multiplayer events, you can compete in a race weekend inspired format. Or, if you want to set up your own custom race with specific settings, tracks and cars, then invite your friends to Free Play and compete for those all-important bragging rights.
What Forza Motorsport features are player customisable?
Pretty much every single part of your car can be customised. And we really aren’t kidding when we say that. You can pick from over 800+ performance upgrades to tune, tweak and engineer your motor to dominate the racetrack - and build the car of your dreams.
This covers everything from the paint job (we’re a sucker for that classic Ferrari red) to all of those mechanical bits under the hood. Suspension. Brakes. The clutch. Horsepower. Transmission. Your exhaust. The entire engine itself. All of that and more can be changed to switch up how your car handles and runs. Just don’t put a massive spoiler on a tiny Fiat…
