Metroid Prime 4: Beyond
Release date: 4 December 2025
It’s been a long time coming, but Samus Aran is finally making her return in Metroid Prime 4: Beyond — set to launch in early December. The game was first teased way back at E3 2017, and it was years before we got any sign of life. That arrived in Nintendo’s June 2024 Direct, with a brief reveal trailer letting us know the mission was still on.
What’s got Metroid fans buzzing is the return to the immersive first-person perspective that defined the Prime series. While Metroid Dread gave us an epic side-scrolling quest on Planet ZDR, there’s something special about stepping directly into Samus’s boots. Especially as the Switch 2 doesn’t offer many FPS games yet.
The initial trailer showed Samus taking on space pirates inside a research facility on the lush, jungle-like Planet Viewros. And it looks like her old nemesis Sylux is back to stir up trouble. The March 2025 trailer also revealed that hostile alien life will attack as you explore their home world. Luckily, Samus will have some new psychic powers up her sleeve to help her survive. Plus a cool bike, which we got a good look at in the September Nintendo Direct trailer.
Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds

But don’t expect things to look the same as before, as loads of things will change to keep you guessing right up to the finish line.
You can play as all your Sonic universe faves in CrossWorlds, including the main man himself, Knuckles, Shadow, and many more. Plus, with the most detailed vehicle editor in the Sonic Racing series yet, you can pick the car that suits your driving style and tinker with all kinds of parts, gadgets, and decals. Then show off your ride in online races or in single-player Grand Prix.
According to SEGA, the Nintendo Switch 2 digital version will launch in late 2025. But if you want a physical version, you’ll have to wait until early 2026.

Mario Tennis Fever will smash onto Switch 2 in February with some slick new moves. Slide into shots and use extra fancy footwork to hit impossible returns. Plus, try all your favourite techniques to get the upper hand, from top-spins and slices to overhead lobs.

FAQs
Does Switch 2 allow Switch 1 games?
Yes, the Switch 2 is designed to play most of your existing Switch 1 games. That includes both physical cartridges and digital downloads, so you won’t need to start your game library from scratch.
Can you play Mario Kart 8 on Switch 2?
Mario Kart 8 Deluxe runs smoothly on the Switch 2, with the upgraded hardware giving it a nice performance boost. We’re talking crisper visuals and more stable frame rates, especially in multiplayer. So yes, you can still drift and banana your way to victory on the new console!
Does Switch 2 improve old games?
Yes it does, and not just with fancy updates. Thanks to its improved internals, the Switch 2 can make older games run better even without patches. From smoother frame rates to faster load times, and in some cases, sharper graphics.
How much storage does the Switch 2 have?
The Nintendo Switch 2 packs 256GB of internal storage, which is eight times more than the original Switch. That’s plenty of room for your favourite titles, save data, and screenshots. Just keep in mind that a small chunk of that space is reserved for system files, so your usable storage is a tad less.
Do I need an SD card for Switch 2?
Not necessarily, but it’s a smart move if you’re planning to download lots of games. The Switch 2 only supports microSD Express cards (not the old microSD ones), which are faster and more future-proof. If you’re happy juggling a few titles at a time, the built-in storage might be enough.
