Internal or external storage
Internal hard drives are fast and cost effective, but can’t be moved around. If you need portability, an external hard drive can be unplugged and used on different devices.
Storage capacity
Storage space is measured in megabytes (MB), gigabytes (GB) and terabytes (TB). The smallest USB sticks hold 16GB, and the biggest hard drives can store a hefty 16TB or more.
What size storage do I need?
If you’re a single user backing up important documents, 500GB should be fine. If the whole family is saving lots of stuff on the same device, go for at least 1TB.

Or If your machine allows for a second internal hard drive to be installed, and you’re happy to take that task on, an internal drive could be right for you.
What is an SSD?

Loading times on your installed programmes will be a lot quicker too. They’re also extremely tough with no moving parts prone to damage. Portability is another big plus.
